Hey all, I am going to be going to an open house at a methadone clinic in my town. We have the chance to ask any quetions we want. What I would like to know is : if you could ask a question, or get clarification at the methadone clinic, what would you ask? If you could make suggestions for the change of some of the practices, what would you change?.
I know that we all have different clinics and different practices, but I really am interested to know of your feelings.

Can I deduct this prescribed medication from my taxes if I paid cash(and show reciepts)
--relatated question> is mdone treatment covered by ones health insurance??
What are the policies for being admin. detoxed??
Is thier a cap(limit) on how high a dose one can go up to & does it differ from heroin addicts & pain management patients??
What are the policies for leaving samples? once a week - twice a month.. ???
Hardship exceptions?? - for the disabled- for those that must travel many,many miles to get to the clinic.
What other services are offered ? NA meetings? HIV groups? Womens groups?
pregnancy groups.. transportation.. etc...(you get the idea)
Policies regarding guest medication- What if an emergency comes up & you dont have take home bottles- How can one get guest medicated >wherever they are going?> related question- How long before one starts to receive TH bottles & vacation bottles.
What type of mdone does the clinic use? there are many different types including methadose - some clinics use a clear liquid,some use the discetts, some (mostly for pain patients-use pills) & some use the cherry liquid.
What is used for breakthrough pain?
What is the recommended taper- 5mg a week ,3 aweek ??
Is the clinic affillated with a hospital or detox center to help the patient in the event they need to detox quickly for ANY reason??
What about pre-exsisting conditions? If one has been taking meds for anxiety-is this allowed to continue without any drama?- related>>
Some clinics allow medical marijunia to be used (cancer,HIV patients..etc..) it helps with anxiety and to increase ones appetite.
Is thier a sliding pay scale- cost sharing? How does one go about getting assistance for payment issues?
Some clinics let you pay by the day- -most by the week- and a few by the month.
How about dirty samples?? How many before they kick you off??- Do you get 1 warning ,2 warnings??- Do they offer to help before they throw you out
Is there a subutex/suboxone program in the same building- (many clinics dont even know about subs believe it or not)- related question>
Are they informed about subs enough to even give the proper advise if someone wants to make the switch??
There are many sub questions which are relevent with detoxing from methadone(if one chooses to go that way- )

Wow! thanks Jack, that is amazing. Our Methadone clinic has been very secretive, hardly any info released. So the fact that they are having this open house is a massive deal for me. I just want to be able to help the clients.
