I have stopped taking my methadone and I am going cold turkey, I have had loads of side affects but I've not taken anything for over 2 weeks so how much longer will this hell last?
How much were you on? for how long? - regardless, if you are going to do nothing to ease the aches ,pains,and cravings-- except will power, your in for the mother of all detoxes.

I've never done a detox of meth, only kit so i couldn't tell you how long the rattles last for, but keep it up mate you're doing great..2 weeks is an achievement. All the best, Kev
I was on 45ml of methadone a day. It was for an opiate addiction!
The aches and pains are so bad now that I need to get something because I don't think I can do this completly cold turkey.
I came off Herion cold turkey 2 1/2 years ago and it was nothing compared to the pain I'm going through now.

My partner was addicted to heroin 4-5 years ago and he was put on methadone. He went cold turkey off the methadone and he said its worse than cold turkey from heroin. 2 weeks and your half way through. Think you have done great because my partner is once again using heroin and I have seem him go through cold turkey and he would only ever last 2 days.

When I see my drugs worker this week I think I'm going to ask to be put on subutex which should help with the aches and pains and stop me from using other opiates if I get that low.

45 ml a day sounds WAY too high to stop using on!!! sadly, there's no easy way out and you'll always feel some degree of horrors when you stop using whatever, gear/ juice/ subs. however, the only way to lessen the pain is to reduce, reduce and reduce more until you are barely taking anything! that way, you really are making the contrast between using and not as mimimal as poss. i'm on 30 ml daily and the thought of just stopping at this dose fills me with absolute terror let alone 15 ml more! you've done amazingly to resist for 2 weeks - don't stop now. it will be getting better for sure and it will only get better still so hang in there.
my partner or ex for the time being, is withdrawing using subutex he has gone cold turkey twice before from heroin, this time he is finding it much easier he is down to 2 mg now and is coping really well so he tells me he should try without and restart naltrexone again in a couple of weeks , so if you can get it prescribed .... some areas only offer methadone ...so fingers crossed you can get it well done and good luck xx
I detoxed off of 115mgs of methadone cold turkey and wasnt right for about 45 days and wow that brings back some unwanted memories.I do have an opinion on this for ya.I f you will try taking benzos before you go back on an opiate it may very well give you just enough relief to continue your detox.Seriously you are doing so well staying off all the opiates right now I would talk to my drug worker about this.I know that I have tried this in the past and it helped alot.Just an idea and I am not suggesting anything more than just using the benzos for a short period of time no longer than a moth .It is an option to look into.Best of luck I know exactly how you feel.Cris
