Methadone

i just was wondering is your regular family doctor allowed to put you on methadone if you have a percocet promblem from your regular doctor if you come clean and tell them the truth because i cant afford suboxone any feed back would be great thanks
From what I understand methadone to treat opiate addiction is only allowed at the clinic, detox and such......same as sub must take that course, and treat and use for addiction.
Methadone itself is prescribed by family doctors but only for pain control.
There is something twisted and sinister with opiate addiction. A little know law makes it illegal to use opiates to treat opiate addiction. Now this isn't followed per say but it does have something to do with the tight control, rules and regulations set in place with these two drugs.....
Makes me wonder.

Is there is there any other way? Have you talked to your doctor about weaning you off, about a clonodine detox, or his suggestions as to what he can do to help you.
Take care,
Love,
Tina
jw is the one to talk to about meth.on this board. Hopefully, he will see your post and respond to you. Shantel
You think you have a problem now? Try methadone.

How about coming clean with your family dr and asking for help, like getting directions to local NA/AA meetings.

They're free.

The fear of withdrawals is huge and you're not alone, most here have gone through them, more than once. But once you get through that first few weeks, you're done. You won't have replaced pain pills with more narcotics.

If you stick around, we can help you through this.

Welcome! I just wanted to say that taking methadone for a percocet addiction is like killing a fly with a bazooka! don't do it man! That is a whole other level of hell. There are a few very knowledgeable people here that can confirm this.....they have had personal experience.

I tried it for 3 days over a year ago at a very low dose at a clinic and was very lucky that my guardian angel sent me messages to stop and never go back to that clinic. I didn't....please do some research.

Perc w/d is agony but it won't kill you....please look into treatment and or meetings....the 12 steps saved my life!

Ditto the above ..... please do not go from perc's to methadone .... you will certainly regret it!!!
And to answer your question, NO a Dr can't Rx an opiate like methadone to w/d from another opiate like perc's or oxy.
Methadone is a Schedule 2, Sub is a Schedule 3 .... both are highly regulated, but with different rules.

How many perc's per day do you take and how long have you been on them??
What other methods have you tried to get and stay clean??
