Moderators - Please Read - A Question Of Concern

dear moderators and family of this community -

i just logged onto this site and noticed at the top of the page where it says Main Categories > Pain Pills and when i clicked on post a new topic in pain pills, there is a yellow line that appears under the words pain pills. if you click on this it takes you to this site:

http://www.bestpillprice.com/?engin...yword=pain+pill

i viewed some of the messages on this board and when the words "pain meds" are written in a message, the yellow line appears under those words too. this takes you to a site that sells pain pills and other pills online. talk about a cheap shot! sheeesh - this kind of stuff makes me sick.

is there anything that you can do to track whomever is responsible for this link navigation? i cleared my cache before coming here - guess i better take my own advice and run another ad-aware and spybot to see what spyware has attached to my browser.

i don't know if anyone else has noticed this but just thought i would pass it along as a warning. my gosh - what some companies/people won't do to exploit those of us who are trying to recover from the deadly disease of addiction. all for the sake of the mighty buck.

thanks for the ear and i'll let you know if i find something that remedies this problem i have encountered.

Good Evening Sammy,
Hope you are well. I just tried what you did and I thankfully do not have a yellow line under anything........Wondering is anyone else having the same problem as Sammy is?
I hope that you find the source of your problem.....and let us know what you find out.
Good Luck....
Tina
Thank you, Sammy, for alerting us to this situation. We are looking into it.
i found it tina. it appears that while we were looking for some christmas screensavers for the computer, we got more than we bargained for.

i ran spybot and low and behold, unbeknownst to me, the following spyware programs had attached to my browser:

gain.dashbar...1 entry

ezula.hot text...82 entries

gain.gator...40 entries

market score...1 entry

web3000...3 entries

i was able to get rid of those slimey programs by having spybot delete them. no more yellow lines! i tell ya - this was a new one on me. not only did it put a yellow underscore on on the pain pills and divert you to an online pharmacy where you could purchase it, on the alcohol forum it put a yellow line under the word liquor and when i clicked on it, i was taken to to a website wine.com.

there's little that gets my ire but this is blatant exploitation of recovery sites and the first time that i have seen it happen like this.

oh well - there's a first time for everything.

moderators - i got my computer taken care of. it was on my end, not anything this site did. in my surprise and confusion i wasn't sure what who to turn to. thanks for giving me a place to write. once i took the time to think about it and did some checking, the problem has now been remedied.

Sammy,
I am glad you got it fixed. I still don't like the idea that there are programs out there smart enough to do what the ones you had did. It is kind of scary!
Hey, I have a link for you when all else fails.....

This place is great and has found viruses on my computer that norton missed.
You have a great night!

That is horrible...I can't believe that. This disease is hard enough..
(my little addict head said that fiorwhatever stuff sounds interesting...haven't tried that one yet....barbituates and caffine..)
Does it ever stop???
WTF?, thats a cheap shot indeed, thats just like at one of the meetings i went to a guy was there acting like one of us and tryed to sell me meth, a******, i told the chair person who cantacted the police and luckly he was coaught with alot of drugs and arrested, but i guess to them we a a JACK POT, gezzz..goes to show you we all need to band and stick together! well take care all and i hope that gets reoved A.S.A.P., thanks Sammy..
Little Beach, I've taken Fioricet on and off for about 10 years.... It is for tension headaches and I have never, ever gotten a buzz from it.... Maybe it's b/c I've always taken it as prescribed, but the narcotic in it is in such a low dose that it had no effect on me whatsoever (I'm like that with darvocet.. I would have to take 15 of them to feel anything, so what's the point?)

Fioricet is wonderful for tension headaches if you dont' think you'll develop a problem with them... Or, you can take 2 ibuprofen, 2 tylenol, and drink a cup of coffee really, really fast and it should work just as well (the pain meds are for, well, you know, pain, and the caffeine constricts your blood vessels so that you dont' have that throbbing in your head).
Hi, Sammy

I wondered why some words were underlined. I recall Ezula coming up on my computer, but I had no clue why. I'm glad you got to the bottom of this! What a horrible thing to do when people are trying to forget about pills/drugs!

Love,
Susan

Dear Sammy,

Good catch! I use Norton Internet Security 2005, Ad-Aware, Spybot - Search and Destroy, and another useful application to keep my desktop and laptop safe.

If you have enough hard drive space and RAM, use SpywareBlaster (version 3.2). This program is proactive when dealing with spyware. It prevents any spyware, adware, tracking cookies, dialers, keyloggers, etc. from infecting one's computer. Since I installed the program, Ad-Aware and Spybot have not located any of the above, although I still run them 3x/week. I'll include the link for your perusal.

SpywareBlaster

Hope your computer remains healthy. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Sammy.
