My First Aa Meeting

I went to my first AA meeting last night. It was a very good experience.I was a little nervous at first, but having my sister with me helped alot.I didnt talk,i just watched and listened. It was very informal, and everybody was extremely nice,i was quite comfortable there. It was a small group which i liked. We are going again Sunday night and there will be a much bigger group, that seems a little intimidating, but i really want to check it out and see the differences.I DO believe this is something thats going to work for me.I got a list with other meetings,etc...im going to definetly check out the womens group.I wanted to let you all know i really did enjoy the meeting and i will be going again. Thanks for all the encouragement.~KIM

Thanks everybody, was a good experience.Im looking forward to going Sunday night, this one will be a much bigger group,im wondering if i will like it as much as the smaller group?I'll soon find out.~KIM
JJ<That is great i am so happy for you because now is when the miracle happens I would not have anything if it was not forr AA teaching me how to live again.I go to meetings when I normally would have used I make alot of weekend meetings some during the middle of the day after a stressful day at work or when i just want to get out of the house and get some peac eafter dinner some nights .It doesnt matter how I feel when i walk in I always leave feeling better .

Womens meetings are the very best though I makle 2 a week and that was the first place I felt comfortable sharing how I got there briefly and whgere I was in my recovery thus far .When you are in THE LARGER MEETINGS YOU JUST FEEL LIKE Bone of many so its is really the opposite of how you think it is going to be and better usually.Congratulations sweetheart,Cristina
Hey Kim I just want to say GOOD FOR YOU.You tried something & found that its something positive for you thats so great.Maybe your post will help someone(like me)who is so shy around people to maybe look into one.Im glad you found one that you feel comfortable in because that probaly makes a big difference. If you find some time on your hands Id actually would like to hear what its like off the board so if you get a chance please email me.
Ive never gone for myself, years ago I went because my BF at the time HAD to & I went with him but at the time I really didnt pay much attention.Anyways glad you posted....mj
Kim,

I'm so happy for you. I hope to be going again soon, too. I think it would make all the difference in the world for me.
Hi Kim...

I like the women's meetings the best also, but it's good to go to all different kinds and get lots of perspectives from different people instead of the same stories every time you go. A larger meeting will be great although you might not feel comfortable at first sharing in a meeting that large. To be honest I never was until about 2 months ago. I was a speaker at a women's retreat and there were about 150 gals there. I was terrified at first but after the first sentence, they were putty in my hands...lol. Not really but I think I made some sense and got people to think. Didn't piss anyone off so that was good.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us...I'm so honored.

Hi Kim

I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your meeting. I'm sure it will enrich your life a great deal and you'll meet new friends who can help you through this. I hope you can drop me a note sometime and give me an in-depth recounting of it. Good for you. I'm especially curious about the women's group if you go. Good luck! Beck
Good Job Kim, I'm proud of you. Now, just keep on keeping girl, I'm pulling for you while I'm pulling for myself. Take Care.
