On July last my son was got by the police with a small amount of canabis down he's sock. The police took him home and like any parent I was in a state of shock. My son is a bright kid good at school, I did not think for a second that he would use this. He swore blind that it was a one off and he was not an addit. Only last night I was loading the washing machine and I check pockets before any cycle and I found a small amt of canabis in he's jeans, I was in tears as I thought it was a one off in July. He denies that it's he's. Can someone give me advise to see if he has a problem. Also how long do canabis stay in your system as I was thinking of bringing him for blood tests. Thank you.lin39scanlon@hotmail.com
Tough call...
Not the using though, in his pocket, most likely his, and mostly likely he used, or was going to...
But what is this, and how to approach him to find out.
No reacting, no freaking out...
His behavior will show how bad this is for him. There is a fine line when they are this young, so fine a line. If his grades are good and he is doing what he needs to then you just enforce some boundaries, not go over the top and hope that he responds...
There are kids that smoke pot, it isn't a big deal, and then for some it is a very big deal.
Is there a history of addiction in your family. If there is that can be a good thing to use to talk to him. Explain that he was already before even using more likely to get addicted, and that using now is like playing russian roulette...that even though he may feel in control, that he may feel it isn't a big deal now, that doesn't mean that one day he won't wake up finding he is chained to a drug...and by then, it is too late...
While some kids smoke just for party time, some do not and something else is going on...Finding out what, well very hard, but being calm, balanced, not freaking or riding thier a**, can help keep the communication door open...
Drug testing, why, you found the pot do you need proof like that and how would you use it...how might it effect you relationship with your son.
Love,
Tina
