I firmly believe that the implants work extremely well for alcohol abuse, especially for binge drinkers. Everybody slams Dr Kirsten for doing these implants without any scientific tests. Firstly you go see the Doctor on ypur own free will.It is costly yes (R5000), however, calculate what drugs and alcohol costs over a 3 month period. The main factor is that you REALLY want to stop abusing whatever you are using. It is obviously extremely dangerous if you abuse after the implant. Depending of quantity used you will get very sick or maybe die. You are warned by the Doctors that you must quit everything, so the onus lies with yourself. I am not a drug user but have helped friends/family go to rehab and believe me there are more drugs available on the inside. I have yet to see a total recovery after the rehab. Also I would like to know which rehab is free as I have paid R 15000-00 for my nephew for a 6 week rehab. He relapsed after 3 days and also told me that he was using on the inside. People complain about the cost of implants but neglect to calculate what the drug user is costing them.
You are right is it down to the will power of the person.
My uncle here in the UK has been struggling with Heroin for 30+ years and recently finally agreed to have the Naltrexone Implant in the UK itself.
I have to say that initially it was a struggle for him to meet the 5 day abstinence prior to implant but since he has had the implant now he has been fantastic.
Adamant he does not want to go back and looks so much healthier and has a very positive outlook on life.
He has pushed me to book 2nd implant in order to prevent a relapse and is currently looking into other means of support to address his addiction.
It is true, the implant does not rid of an addiction but it certainly helps kick start the process to recovery and avoid the risk of a relapse.
I would certainly recommend the implant and specially the clinic in the London.
