I am talking with a friend who has about 7-10 days clean from OXY relapse. He has some pretty scary things going on with gastro-intestinal functions. Does anyone know of a hotline he can call to inquire about this? He really doesn't want to spend the day at the ER. Any insight anyone? Thanks!
Whats happening?
over in the UK we have an NHS helpline, but its useless to you cos your in the US, soz I can't be any help x
Pardon the graphics........stringy stools, distended stomach, abdominal rash........it's been 8 days
mom, i found the number for cocaine anonymous in the phone book, have y'all looked there?
Or if there is a local treatment center, or maybe your hospital?

Medical attention would be best, it's hard to diagnose over the phone. He really should go to the ER.
he is in the MN, WIS area.........
I think Urgent care or the ER is in order, how about ya'll?

I would agree with Betsy on this Carol, cos like she says its so hard to diagnose over the phone, it'd be better if he could see someone x
it sounds like a day in the ER may be in order. I will keep him in my prayers.
Stomach ailments with oxy withdrawal are huge. The imodium were coming out whole, if you'll forgive me. It almost sounds like he has a blockage. We all nkow narcotics cause constipation...so if he was suffering from that previously, maybe something won't come out. I was hospitalized for that very thing 3 years ago. Extememly painful. The ER won't be pleasant for something like this...they WILL get up close and personal. To be blunt... has he been going prior to this?
Thanks everyone, I am going to have him come here and read this, too.
But we have found several numbers for him to call. Hopefully he will get the help he needs.
Now, I am going to have b'fast. Have a great day, and thanks again.
good luck to him tmom!
Dunno about the abdominal rash but stringy stools means he's pushing it through a smaller than average hole which could mean a rectal prolapse or haemorrhoids or he could have a big hard poo blocking the exit. He would probably feel constipated with any of those options (is he?) and have a bloated stomach. dunno about the rash though. Is it bleeding? As long as something is coming out I dont think their is immediate concern (apart from the rash thing) ????
Hospital wont do much (from my experience, dr was better) lots of fibre, laxatives, orange juice is great anf kiwi fruit
The rash is what scares me, is he having trouble breathing? If so get him to the ER NOW>

Tom

Hi
The Rash and distention is important to get checked out professionaly......all the bloods will need testing.......could be Liver probs so I would advise ugency. Any Jaundice? I have looked after many (I am a nurse) with these symptoms. I must stress it could be nothing like this but please be safe.

I have just talked with my friend, the addict this thread is about, and wanted you guys to know the outcome.
He came on here and read the posts, and because of them he went to the ER.
Thank God. The OXY's had interferred with other meds he has to take, and when he quit the OXYs, his body went totally haywire. He was in early liver failure. He's OK today, but still has a long road ahead of him. Please keep him in your prayers........Mike is his name.
So, we should all feel good that at least one positive thing happened on this board yesterday. I know I do!
thats good news mom, i'm glad we could help
That is great news Carol, I am glad that he got help, and that you were there to help him along with other board members,,, I hope we hear from him soon and that he is doing better..
