everytime I post here no one responds to me, I need someone to talk to.
I take klonopins for anxiety, and I'm going to be getting off of the narcotics. Does anyone think that if I take a couple of klonopins at night it would help with the withdrawals? I can' t get addicted to those I used to take 4 a night and they never faized me, what should I expect from the withdrawals from percs?. I used to take the regular percs but 5-7 a day. Can my doc give me something to stop the withdrawals? Please someone get back to me before I loose my mind
thanks stacy
Hi Stacy, I take klonopin for anxiety too and they did help me with the withdrawals, especially sleep. The first time I quit percs I was taking 5-6 day, I weaned down to 1 a day over a couple of weeks and was fine except I was tired for a few days. Unfortunately I started on the percs again and have to do it all over again, only this time I take more. The doc should be able to give you something like clonidine to help, some here say the patch is the best.
Good luck

Hey Stacy, sorry no one answered you. That happens sometimes, a post gets lost in the shuffle. Don't take it personally. I know this must be a frightening time for you. I've heard some really positive things about the patch just referred to. You might want to check with your dr about it. w/d varies from person to person. I can tell you this, it won't be as bad as you fear it will be. Everybody fears w/d, it's just our disease talking to us. There are lots of things you can do to help yourself through it. Stay positive, pray, drink plenty of fluids to flush yourself out, immodium ad if you need it. You need to work out a plan for your recovery. Decide what you want to do and how and when you will begin. You need a good support system. I strongly recommend NA meetings. This is a good place to post as you go through this, just about everyone here has gone through it. Good luck to you, and congradulations on your decision to get clean. You've made a great start!! Much love, Kat

Just wanted to Welcome you and see how you are feeling..
I sometimes get klonopin and clonidine mixed up. I know that Klonopin is given to patients to treat convulsive disorders and belongs to a class known as Benzos. for this drug to work at its best there needs to be a constant amount in your bloodstream.
Clonidine is perscribed for high blood pressure and for alcohol nicotine and benzo withdrawal, narcotic and methadone detoxification.
My friend just got on the Catapress patch and so far it is working really good for her..she had, prior to taking the patch been experiencing w/d symptoms while trying to taper, so her doc recommended the patch.. It has relieved most if not all of her symptoms, sweats, dizziness, etc..
Well I hope this information helps you and I wish you well . Just know that you are not alone, and that you have found, As I have, a wonderful supportive family here..
Best of Luck
