i have been taking lorcets for about three or four years. 10 to 15 a day. i have decided i want to quit and i started taking methadone and i know that can be very dangerous to . i have taken 30 to40 milagrams a day and now i am down to 20 milagrams.my question is when is it going to be the easiest to go c/t. how far should i go down on the methadone before i do go c/t?please reply as well as you can. thanks, christy

i have read that going to the lowst dose possible is the best..
i've also read that someone went to a really low mg, taking it daily for a bit then dropping it to everyother day..
not sure if this helps.

There is no easy way or dose. And without a dr prescribing this to you, you are in danger of hurting yourself. Is there a reason why you can't call one for support?

I don't know anything about methadone, or tapering for that matter. Except, can you have someone hold your drug for you? We have no power over our d.o.c.

Christy it all depends on how long you have been taking ii,Ive used it a few times to help me withdraw and I found that if you used it over a 10 day period,starting at about 40mgs and then reducing it as soon as possible,it was great,it really helped,there was a couple of times I didnt have much and I was only able to take about 10mgs for a few days and then taper down to nothing over the next few days and even that really helped.
All I can say is,I hope you have not been taking it for to much time,the sooner you can stop,the easier it is,I think the clinics around here offer a 10 day detox,so that gives you an idea of how long you should aim to use it for,if you dont want to stay on it long term.
I really hate seeing methadone trashed,it really does work well for a lot of people,I have friends who's lives are so much different and better,since they have started using methadone.Methadone has saved a lot of lives and for some people it is the only way out of the life they are living.
