Needle Fixation?

im wondering about needle fixations?
my partner had stuck to his methodone for the last 2 weeks haden't used anything else. until 2 days ago he took his methodone away from the pharmacy and injected it the pharmacy has given him a last warning if it happens again thats it the pharmacist mentioned he can get the A&D clinic to sign off on injecting it in the pharmacy.
today he is not copeing they have him on 60mg of methodone and want him to stay on that dose for a month since he has done so well so far but he's hanging out big time he says its a needle fixation. he was talking about going and getting a pill.
does anyone else suffer from this fixation?
Wow....does that really excist...needle fixation. Would be interested to hear about this myself......
Indeed it does exist, but maybe a little different for me.Let me explain..when I finally went on methadone in 2000,which I did detox off of about 4 years ago,I was still very addicted to the pins.Actually I know this may sound gross but I was addicted to the routine of getting the fix together and then the instant gratification {reward mentally)after I saw the blood spiral through the syringe this whole deal was very addicting to me and to be quite honest I started shooting coke after I got on meth and alot of that had to do with still using the pins.I am so grateful that I cant physically inject drugs anymore,I basically ruined all the veins that I could possibly get to ,and now doctors have to call in specialist to get an iv in me, using an ultrasound machine . That is pretty embarassing ,but it is a fact and part of my past.
Enough about me ,dang addicts love to talk about some me dont they?Ha Shooting methadone is not uncommon for addicts that were shooting H it gives a similar high to the H the draw back to doing this is that the methadone doesnt work in your body as long as it is supposed to unless you take it orally.Your friend would very well feel better the ENTIRE day if he would just drink it.Plus you know the risks involved with using pins and diseases.Just thought I would share what I know .
It does still get me a little excited (mentally)when I see people shoot up on t.v.especially on Intervention because they show the whole dang routine but I am happy to be clean and grateful,I dont have to live like that ever again.Mention about the meth working better if taken orally to your friend and see if that helps.Best wishes.Cris
my partner has told me the same thing about the syringe and seeing the blood in it.
he has been told a lot of times by people that its exactly the same hit just more dangerous.
he actually told the chemist yesterday before he got his methodone what he wanted to do and they told him to drink it and have an alcoholic drink straight after to kick it in.
i didn't agree seeing as he has pretty much drank every day for the past 3 weeks, i see another addiciton comeing on.
is there such a thing as being addicted to being addicted?
we have had the drug addiction and he has a gambling addiction now the booze (his mum's a alcoholic).
i can understand a little but as i have never been addicted to anything other then coka cola i can't really relate and don't know what to say to him
Needle fixation is well documented. Some addicts inject sterile water to deal it while they are in recovery.
Silent P is correct. I had a cousin- now clean for 5 yrs- after a long time of heroin/methadone use. During his most crazy and desperate times he did inject water (although he convinced himself that there was still something in the cotton) many times.
This isn't an uncommon thing. I myself used to milk a hit much longer than nessercery, in & out wit the needle ,watching the blood flow back and forth. Of course once you inject the drug, there is no reason to keep playing with the needle- - but there is some kind of sick fixation with the the whole fukin process.

It will go away -the longer he stays away from it. At least it did for me.
