My name is Johanne and I'm a recovering Alcoholic & Heroin addict. I've been clean & sober since Oct. 14/2000. I spent from May of 1990 until Oct of 2000 struggling to end the madness of an on-going 22 year career of drinking & drugging. The 5 things that brought me to recovery were:
1. Sick & tired of being sick & tired.
2. Afraid of continuing in the insanity of alcoholism & addiction
& not dying, but merely existing.
3. Fed up with the lies & deceit (especially to myself).
4. Being totally out of control.
5. Knowing there was a better way to live. I had seen examples of
people that were really messed up & were now clean & sober but
most of all truly happy. That's what I wanted.
The program of AA has saved my butt. I tried everything else under the sun & I can honestly say that for myself nothing else has come close. For that I am truly grateful.
