Good morning to All..
I would like to share with you all my joy and happiness with the birth of Granddaughter no 3 .Matilda Grace who was born at 1728hrs on Saturday 8/4/06 or for my friends overseas 4/8/06
This is my daughters Lauren and her partners Marks first child and all went well though Matilda took her time arriving.
She weighed in at 4740 gms or 10 ponds 7 ounces and 21 inches tall. We dont muck around in our family. Both my wife and I are over the moon with joy because we know all my daughter has gone through to be here as well.
When my daughter Lauren was born instead of being at the hospital with my wife I was out drinking from the early hours of the morning till I came to out of a blackout that night on the side of a busy road going toe to toe. (Fighting) some bloke (man) I didnt know from a bar of soap, saying to myself, where did he come from and what the hell am I doing here.
My last memory was drinking inside the pub having a good time.
Then fronting up to the hospital the next morning with a black eye a few stiches in my lip feeling all the shame guilt and remorse anyone could feel saying the alcoholics prayer never again God. Making promises to my wife that this was the last time. Then leaving the hospital only to go back to the hotel and do it again. TOTTAL ISANITY.
Its no wounder I am so happy these days I dont miss any of that insanity. Thankyou God and thankyou AA for giving me the ability to see where I have come from and what I have today.
There are three very important numbers in my life today 55, 30, 14.
I am 55 years old .I have been married for 30 years and I am 14 plus years sober.
The most important number is the 14years sober because without them I wouldnt have the rest.
Have a sober 24. God bless
Lionel
Congratulations on the grandchild and the 14 years sober!!!
Congrads from me too
Lionel, Congratulations on your 14 years of sobriety, because both you and I know without sobriety most likely you wouldn't have the other significant numbers: 55 and 30...wow, Matilda is wonderful news for this Easter season! New life...hope everyone else is doing well in your family. We are doing pretty good, my youngest daughter is still trying to run the show....thank God I don't have to react with drama and chaos, the women on the Program are teaching me what it takes to be a sober, dignified and mature Mom...so many of them have went before me....so grateful to have a different way to live today! So grateful I don't have to "white-knuckle" sobriety and can live one day at time without the obsession or cravings to use and drink, it has been relieved...now that is a miracle, for me!
10 Pounds??? OMG! Poor Lauren! Congrats to you and yours, Lionel!
Thankyou all have a happy Easter God bless
