Hi Everyone,
I just found this site tonite and have spent the last hour or so just reading your posts. You all seem so helpful to each other and that is exactly what I need, HELP.
OK, here's my deal. I'm 48, been on Methadone for 4yrs, been tapering for months with quite a few starts and stops but made it from 95mgs down to 45mgs at 2mgs a week now. My destination WAS to get on Buprenorphine, Subutex, or Suboxone, WHICHEVER. Problem is,,,all the Dr.s who are in my area and are listed to do the treatment will ONLY do it for CASH at $6.00 per pill. At this present time I am on Public Assistance and have a Managed Medicaid Program called Affinity. I have quite a few variables to my situation, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which I am in between surgeries, am being treated for Major Depression which isn't working and all those agencies that claim to help you with Housing (MHA) don't. I NEED to get off of the Methadone because YES, as it did save my life and stopped me from using, it also gave me a 100pd weight gain, loss in drive, ambition but most of all,,my Spirit. I have changed from a vivacious, full of life, Hairstylist/ColorTech, totally involved in AA to someone who hardly leaves the house, my Mom's house.
Any ideas??? Thank you for taking the time to read this anyway.

Hi Methadonna and welcome to the board. It's pretty late for alot of people but you should get more responses by morning. Me personally, I have no experience with methadone so can't really relate on that point but I can relate to the feelings of despair and darkness that you're feeling. You say that you used to go to AA? When was the last time you made a meeting? It's crucial that you get back into the program. You need that support of others that have been were you are now. This board is full of wonderful people but it's not the same as face to face support. You've got a long road ahead of you at the rate your going in trying to get off of the methadone.
I'm so glad that you reach out and posted.
Have a good night

Hi methadonna. Welcome to the board.
I don't know about meth, I was on vics. I went to treatment, and they gave me bupranex for the withdrawls. I consider that miracle stuff, I tried to ct, and couldn't do it. I also had to stay in the center because I am almost sure I would have relapsed at that point.
Will your insurance cover you in an inpatient detox? I know how you feel about losing your spirit. Mine is slowly coming back...I have 3 months this time.
The face to face advice you got from Bob is great. I would suggest going to the meetings, even if you are still on meth. That will show you the other side, and it will give you hope and motivation. Maybe someone there has been in the same situation.
I know it seems hopeless, but things will work out. The game isn't over yet, right? Just hang in there.
