Hi
I have been reading this board for a long time now, and decided that today would be my day to jump in.
I am an addict in the biggest way. For the last 5 years I have been taking Norcos, up to 30 a day. Well to make a long story short, I had to quit two weeks ago, because my doctor refused to write me any more scripts because he found out I was doctor shopping, and cut me off. At first I was getting them for severe headaches, but you know how that goes. Just one pill and I was off to the races.
I did manage to survive the withdrawls, which lasted about a week. I still don't feel 100%, mostly just tired, and I have been having some trouble sleeping. The worst part now, is that I just don't feel like myself. Its almost like I don't even know who I am anymore.
My sister is coming to visit for a few days, so I am hoping that if I get out of this house, and get back into old routines, that maybe I can start feeling better. I believe we are all here for a purpose, and that the reason for my existance is something that I want to work hard on. Thanks for letting me share.
Love,
Justina
Justina,
Welcome to the board! I like you got caught dr shopping as well. Not fun. The sleep will come. Took me about a month to get some kind of regular sleep but everyone is different. Glad you decided to post. take care

Hi Justina;
Strange as it may seem, it sounds like your doctor may have saved your life! Congratulations on getting clean...after 5 years of pill abuse it's going to take time for both the mind and body to get back up-to-speed. Your body, especially your mind, is going to fight this tooth and nail. Think about developing some sort of recovery plan.
Keeping busy will be good for you. I find that I'm most vulnerable when I'm sitting around doing nothing. My mind can be my worst enemy sometimes.
Welcome, and good luck!
Jim

Hi Justina,
Welcome here, you've found a good place. I think getting back into the swing of things and keeping busy is a great idea. I had to cut off a lot of people in my life when I quit because they were and are still using. My will power doesn't last long if I'm around pills for to long.
Theres a guy here named Bob who told me a long time ago to keep them out of arms reach, sounds simple right? But it was a lot harder to do then I thought it would be.
Good luck friend, and keep talking here, it really helps.

Welcome to the board Justina!
Keep coming back!
Keep coming back!
Keep coming back.
You CAN do it. It will take time for your body to return to "normal" but as each second passes you get that much closer.
By the way I agree. I truly believe we are all here for a purpose. Certainly one that has higher goals than abusing ourselves.
God bless.

hi there and welcome.
Best way to get rid of an addiction is to replace it..lolol...start exercing, get those endorphins back into your brain the old fashioned way....eat healthy and look into taking vitamin/supplements....in this day and age we need then more than ever, ( toxins everywhere and soil is being depleted of all the good nutrients etc...)
We truly are what we eat..( ingest) Adapt and "Get addicted" to a healthier lifestyle....Congrats on getting through those ever dreaded "withdrawls" YIKES!!!!!

Ali
