i was just curious if anyone could help me out on their suboxene treatment. i've been on it for a week and feel great. I started at 8mg and am already at 6 mg. Can't seem to get a clear pic from anyone at the clinic about how long to stay on. The doc said maybe 21-28 days. But, i really don't like the "buzz" i get from it and ready for an experienced person to tell me their view. Anything, would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey how are you? I am on Suboxone also and I ahve been on it for two months and I am still at 16 mgs.I do not get a buzz from the Sub actually Everyones body chemisrty is different .At this point and time my dr. has decided to keep me on the Sub because of the length and severity of my addiction.What I can share w/ you is my experience and that is that the Sub treatment has been a very helpful tool in my recovery .I still work a strong 12 step program w/ the sub and do not rely on it by itself .My life has had a 360' turn around since I have been on the treatment and things continue to get better .I am very glad it is working for you and I do know that people that use it for a detox can go fron 2-4 weeks so you seem to bre right on track .Be sure to get a program of recovery establishe dso you will have plenty of support when you finish your treatment most importantly,this message board is a very good tool you can use for support too. Hopefully someone else will post to you that used the Sub for a detox instead of maintainence but I wanted you to know that quite a few people on the board have successfully used it also you may want to post also on the heroin board as many people there have used it too. Imon a methadone maintaince ive been comeing down they say is not suppossed to make you high thats crap for about an hour and a half you feel high and just want to lay there wich makes me nervouse when i come off totaly
Methadone and Suboxone are 2 totally different ballgames I agree when I was on methadone that was the easiest high I ever had in my life but I am totally aware of when I am high and when I am not and the Suboxone is not near as strong as the meth I do not think you can honestly even compare the 2.
Hello,dhousewife,Im on sub. and i have been since april.My pys. put me on 12mgs a day and i havent had to take nowhere near that amount.I started on 6 mgs pretty much like you and then one week later 6 mgs and went to 4mg and then 2mgs.Im back at 4 mgs right now.After another week or so you wont be feeling that high feeling belive me it goes away.I have friends that are on it that have said the same thing.It has really help me alot these past 7 months.Ive just got to deal with the depresstion.If your doctor is planning on takeing you off in so many days id really start comeing off as soon as i could so that you will be ok when he says im not giveing you anymore.I havent heard of anyone useing it for maintians ethier.Also,sub, is nothing like meth. Ctink is so right on that one .Meth. is much stronger and harder to get off.Not saying that sub. is the best way to go ethier if you can go cold trukey thats great.Ive done the cold trukey for months at a time serval times.I always went back to useing and the more i fall the harder it was the next go around.After on sub. Dont even think i can take a pill for the pain and it want hurt.Im just useing for my pain and wont get high.Well its true you want get high but,after you take the pain pill the craveings oh they hit.Thats something i wish i havent of done was taken that pain pills on sub. then i tried to let sub. run out and use pain pills again and thought when i run out ill just use my sub.Well,i learn really quick one or the other .I could choose the life of hell or life of at least not haveing to worry about where im going to get my next pill from.Im sure others have tried this also,and i wish this was told to me.I didnt have the craveings until i took the pain pills.I think about the pain pills alot and have the craveings and my doctor said take more sub. i cant afford to be on anymore then 4 mgs a day.Its so expences not counting the doctors fee.Last time i went he said im going to tell you for what it is he said its tradeing one for another and he didnt say this on my first nor other 4 vists to his office.He said you and like 2 other people are the only patients doing good on sub. He said you can stay on it as long as you want .I thought man you didnt tell me this when you put me on it he told me the first day its so easy and if you go down 2 mgs at a time you can come out with little w/ds.Now he says if you come off it would be like comeing off the pain pills maybe,alittle easier.I have tried to come off of it like 2 mgs every 2 weeks and then went 2 days no sub. i had bad w/ds so i got back on it ,I have read where many come off it quick and then they end up back on it or useing again.My doctor said when i first got on it .I have had patients to come off it too fast and i dont recommend you do this he said take your time.Im tring to stay on sub. and hope that oneday i will be off everything.I wish you the best of luck .take care,crystal
