New To Methadone, Questions...

Hi I just started mmt on may 14,2015.
I was taking norco 10mg, 30a day plus Percocet 10mg 20 a day ( not both meds together, cuz THAT would be crazy)lol. Also has a doctor rx me 90 ativan..05Mg, which I would eat ALL of those in 2-3days. And would illegally buy methadone off the street. When all the other crap would run out.
Needless to say, after 20years of doing this, I finally decided that I am done. Pretty easy decision, actually. I lost some jobs, ran out of money...
My question is I have never had body aches before, and now, omg I have back pain, knee pain, foot pain, ankle pain. So bad! It goes away about an hour after I dose, but comes back full force about 10hours after.
So, it's been 38days since I started methadone.
And the aches started about 2weeks after.
I started at 30mg, went up 5mg every day for the first week, then go up 10percent every 4days.
Now, I am at 113mg. Wednesday or Thursday I will be at 123.
Why are these aches happening now? Are they going to go away?
Oh yah, I have also had diarrhea since the day I started taking it. Every day. Ugh.
Was hoping for constipation, lol not really. However, I really am over the diarrhea.
Can anyone help and answer?
And my nose is STILL running!!
Thanks all
It sounds like your dose of methadone is too low so it's not enough to keep withdrawal away. All your symptoms are the same as withdrawal. I'm no expert though so better talk to the doctor/clinic
Stop going up Now! level off for 1 month and immediately taper down and get off methadone it will steal your life -- use it to stabilize then get off asap-- suboxone is much safer
Your coming off opiates no matter what you will have symptoms stabilize and decrease methadone asap
Thank you.
I am now stable at 163mg
maramara,
As almosthome said, your symptoms sound similar to withdrawals, and if all those symptoms have stopped it may be because you are at a dose that is just right for you.

PLEASE don't listen to the people , who I call the "lobby doctors" telling you to get off methadone asap. If MAT works for you and keeps you from using then that's what works for you. Get to a dose that keeps the craving away and you'll be good. If you haven't already, research methadone so you can make an educated plan for yourself as to whether you might need to stay on methadone for an extended time period (years) or if you want to detox after a time. It is YOUR choice, and NO ONE else's. Find patients, if possible, to hang with who have long clean times, and go to outside meetings like NA or AA. See if there are any methadone anonymous meetings where you live.

If I can make a suggestion,
To the left of this post and up towards the top of the page, above the Message Board, there's a Site Search. Enter, Your Brain on Opiates there and read it when it comes up. It tells you how your brain has been affected over the years of abuse and helps you to understand it in a language you can actually understand. Very interesting reading.

If you just follow the rules of the clinic it just gets better. Be careful of the meds you were taking, they can be extremely dangerous combined with methadone, as you probably know. Work with your clinic counselor too. I have been on methadone a very long time and became an advocate. I also belong to a group called PAAG, to interact with the clinic patients and staff and I write a newsletter for our clinic. My husband and I chair a recovery meeting once a week at our clinic too, called Keys to Recovery. We started getting take-homes within the first year of starting on methadone and now we go to our clinic to pick up twice a month. Dependent on your lifestyle, kids, job etc, you may qualify for take-homes as well.

good luck.
