Hi my name is Tammy, I am 29 I have three kids. I'm getting married June 8th. I have only been sober for 11 days, but I have been trying for 3 months now. I did get into a lot of problem with the law, for the first time but a lot happened. I started noticing a problem about three years ago when I started cutting myself but only when I drank. The last time I cut was about 3 months ago and I did it in front of my 12 year old son, I knew after a night in jail and listening to my son's screams telling to stop (over and over again in my head) I needed to stop. I have been doing okay but I have drank a few times but everytime I have ended up in jail ( no lie) about 4 times now in 3 months. I am having a harded time feeling good about myself because people are looking at me as this crazy drunk girl. I am not that person when I am sober, I am a good mom, girlfriend and person when I'm sober but the drunk person is all I hear about. I HATE BEING THAT PERSON. I do not ever plan on drinking again., not only for myself but for my kids and soon to be husband. If anyone can tell me so good sites to talk to people about being sober or would like to help me please let me know, Thank you all for listening to me. GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!!
Welcome feelinfrogie, I have found this to be a good site to talk to people about getting and staying sober. I can relate to your desire to never drink again, three months ago that was me.... Have you thought about a plan for staying sober? Many people find AA helpful... Others take different routes to sobriety. Keep posting, I hope you are successful
bye for now Cookster

undefined THANK YOU COOKSTER!!! I have tried AA and I really didn't care for it. I have been doing alot to try and help me. May 29th I start treatment and I can't wait. I know I have a long road ahead of me, and it isn't going to be easy, but I know that we will all be okay. i wish you luck and I really hope from you again.
Hi feelingfroggie
welcome to the board. Yu are doing great! Thanks for sharing your story - its always a good reminder as to why drinking is not for us. As far as suggestions, its really important to have a good support network.
I have God, attend some AA meetings and have a sponsor, I also use this site and I have a great friend that I email regularly and can share with honestly about how I'm feeling and who I am.
You don't have to struggle alone. Try AA, sponsors, rehabs, private therapy, group therapy, church try eveything until you find something you are comfortable with.
The great thing about AA is that it is free - you may need to try going to several different meetings until you find one you click with.
Post here about your struggles and victories and you will soon find some great friends here.
Remember its only one day at a time
Idgie.

Hi Feelinfrogie29,
Welcome to the board glad your here! A few other sites one is for woman called reachingupforair.com,soberrecovery.com,rationalrecovery.com,smartrecovery.com & one that is Christ based is overcomersoutreach.com. Hope these are helpful to you. This is also a great site the people on this board don't judge, condem, ridcule. Theres little drama here, but we do have fun. We support each other, encourage each other when were down. We share our hope with one another. Were excited & happy for each other when things are going good. Glad to here your entering treatment 5/29. I started outpatient rehab, private therapy, and a program by the Life Renewal Institute in late Feb. I can't tell you enough that it's the best thing I ever have done for myself and my family. I'm not sure when I will be ready to move out of this phase of treatment. I also started going to AA. I tried it a couple of yrs. ago & didn't really like it. I'm finding that I like it this time around. I started that about 3 wks. ago. I'm more willing ,open, & honest with myself now. Because the last five yrs. I was an isolated drinker I find that I don't have to be alone anymore. One of my objectives suggested by counselors at re-hab. I find strength in listening to others who have walked in my shoes. I find much comfort for my soul when I hear how people's life's have changed from obstaining from liqour & working the program one day at a time. I look for the similarities not the differences. I was surprised to find so many things in common with them. Anyway I will pray for you & your children tonight. I'm glad your looking for solutions to a problem that has been around for many many generations. Keep posting it really helps to let it out. God Bless, Chris

This is a good thread. Welcome, frogie, first off. this is a good resource and, when coupled with other methods, works for me. I used to feel the same way about AA--just look back at some older threads. It may not be for everyone, but everyone's welcome--all one needs is the desire to stop drinking. They don't need to agree with everyone, but everyone there agrees that they need to be there. We share similarities and experiences, not judgement and peer pressure.
Welcome to the board. I'm the most vocal right now--due mainly to my new found freedom and lust for life as a result of sobriety. I've got an addictive personality and this helps.
Sharing doesn't hurt.

Welcome...It sounds like you have a plan in place...seeking treatment...and that is a great first step...it is one day at a time...sobriety isn't always easy but it is a better life...Find what works for you to keep you sober each day...I went to AA for a few years and still use their principles everyday to maintain my sobriety. This forum is a wonderful, safe place to share and know we have all been where you are now...Prayers, thoughts, and hugs, Gina
Thank you to everyone who has posted some support for me, it has been helpful:) I wanted to let you guys know that one step that I have taken is I went to the doctor and got a shot, you get it once month. It is really working for me so if anyone would like to know more about it just let me know. I hope all is well, and MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL WITH HAPPINESS!!!!!

Keep posting, keep positive and build a support network that you feel comfortable with if you ever feel the need to drink.
How are the wedding plans? and have you got support in place for your wedding day if there is alcohol around?
Your life sounds really busy so allow yourself some quiet time to build your gratitude even more.
Light and love zac

Congratulations on your progress, frogie. I, too, tried the ole prevention path--Antabuse and Campral. While it works (and I had to prove to myself that I'd get sick if I drank while using it), it was only part of MY personal solution. I needed some spiritual repair and this AA thingy works for me. In fact, I am not going to be able to go to my usual meeting time and I'm churning over it. I'll be okay, but I really miss the meetings and the serenity and the fellowship in that room. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's meetings already!
You keep progressing and stick with what works. Addictions are tricky things, but they CAN be worked. I'm living proof.

Welcome Tammy! There's a lot of good recovery here on this board with everyone, newcomers and older members as well...keep posting! For me, I can identify with the folks who post here...and they are helping me stay sober one day at time....I can't come here like I use to....because I've got a lot going on with a 16 year old daughter who is also working to stay sober....but by the Grace of God, our own Higher Powers and the rooms of AA we are sober one more day today!
Hi feelinfroggie and welcome!
I have been so wrapped up in my own stuff I haven't got round to saying hello yet, so here is a big hello to you. How are you getting on?
