First of all, thank you Cowgirl (and of course EVERYONE) for your support. You seem to know your stuff and since you have alot of time under your belt, I'm glad to take ANY advice - I'm a pretty tough cookie too. I've read some posts (before I had the nerve to post I read for quite awhile). Some come down on you pretty hard on you for what I can only see is your total honesty and telling it like it is. I'm kind of the same type of person (telling it like it is, that is). Sometimes we dont want to hear the truth - it hurts. But how can we help ourselves or let others help if we cant get honest with ourselves first and foremost?
OK - I'm really proud of myself (and to be honest really scared for some reason) because as of today (this afternoon), after I told my sister the truth - who really wasnt as shocked as I thought she would be -she said she thought that there was "something up" but didnt quite know what. Of course, I was no angel when we were growing up, so its not as if I was this "perfect, drug/alcohol free person" who all the sudden became an addict. Addiction runs in my family.
Anyhow, she was the person that I "burdened" with the job. I knew any of my friends would "cave" and give in when I started to strangle them (j/k) wanting a pill!!! She's all into the "tough love" bit. We went through it with my brother and she's the one that wouldn't even let him in her house if he was drinking (he's a recovering alcoholic) - of course, I used to "feel bad" for him and give in.
So, I'm in for it now, kiddos. I'm scared, honestly. I know I'm not going to DIE from withdraws, but I'm not feeling so great already - mainly leg cramps and I have NO appetite (I could stand to lose a couple pounds anyway:o)
Wish me luck.............peace, love and prayers to you all.
D.
Hi Deena
How's the detox going? I just wanted to say hi and wish you well. Hang in there and let us know how you're feeling. You don't have to do it alone. Many of us have been where you are and we're here to support you.
