Not Restless Legs, But Sensitive Legs

Ali,

I know what you mean about restless legs, my best friend (she's not an addict) suffers from RLS. She takes some kind of medicine for it. I'll ask her what it is. The problem I am having is that since Sept., my legs and back have become so sensitive to touch. I feel bad when my husband will give me a hug and rub my back and I cringe away. My legs are the same way. I can't stand for my legs to be touched. I am so uncomfortable in jeans and dress pants. All I want to wear is my sweat suits. Thankfully, I have some nice designer sweat suits so I can go out in public and still look decent. I wonder, has anyone else suffered from these symptoms?

Ali, everytime I read your posts, you seem like you are getting stronger and moving forward. You have such a positive attitude and I appreciate the way you always congratulate and try to encourage other posters. Keep up the good work!

Shelly,

The medicine is called Requip, It was prescribed to me for RLS, I've had it most of my life, but it didn't help all that much so I quit taking it.

Shelly,

Thanks for the compliment luv. I appreciate it. sincerely.

you said that youve had the sensitive skin thing since September? Im sorry, can you remind me of how long youve been off of your DOC or are you tapering?

Ive had the exact same thing as you describe...does it feel like the outside of a deep cut, where even the sheets hurt?????

standing by to read your reply,

Ali
Ali,

I've been off lortabs for over 2 years but that's because I went on methadone to quit the pills. I was on methadone for 2 years and finally finished tapering off of it the first week in Sept. My legs don't burn, they feel more like sandpaper whether I shave them or not. It's just really uncomfortable and I never experienced it when I was on the pain pills. I wonder if it's because of the methadone. What are you tapering off of, and have you experienced any unusual side affects besides the common ones?

Shelly
Shelly,

Luv, before i forget...A dr once said that horrible sensitive feeling was toxins coming out of your skin...you can even get it from a flu or cold virus....

I havent been on methadone, but here the withdrawal isnt pleasant and tapering is super important....Im coming off of Dilaudid which is a hydro-morphine type pill...naturally i am on the highest milligrams....go big or go home has always got me in trouble..lolol

But the good news is for the very first time in 10 years i am tapering myself off of this stupid drug.....guess im just done with them and ready...started about 3 weeks ago....took only 5 today...3 weeks ago when i stopped abusing myslef, i was taking at least 25- 30....truth is im sure that some days it was more...

Finding this site ( well first it was the PA site ) was a HUGE leap for me, it kept me busy, reading and posting, and more importantly at first, I realized I WASNT ALONE...others felt the shame, the guilt i did....that was big for me...

Side effects of withdrawing? Cikeys Shel..ive had, lets see, nose run like a water tap, eyes water and yawn, sneezing like 20 times in a row, my arm or leg would suddenly SHOOT out into the air.....( not painful but embarrasing) and oh yeah..since last night ive had tennis ball sized muscle spasms in my calves, and a sore back for at least 2 weeks now....Hmmm am i done? Well covered everything ive had SO FAR ( God help me..lol)

I am taking vitamins and aminos and trying to be better to myself....baby steps...actaully found that Vitamin E has made my hair grow back thicker and curly again, which was something that when i turned 39 had really pissed me off...my hair had been thinning....love thatvitamin E..LOLOL

Shel, know that your bad days wont last forever and neither will the skin sensitivity....its hard to think that at the time i know....you are strong and you can do this....remember the toxins will be GONE one day soon...and you will be happier.

Im here for you,

cheering you on,

Big Big hug,

Ali
I got rls but only when I was detoxing. It was like Alicap's rls. Requip did help me a lot but my symptoms weren't like yours.

Take heart...If it is a w/d symptom it will go away. I JUST started too sleep a little better and it's been 4 mnths.

Does your hubby understand?

Wishing you all the best.
Hi Michelle, I experienced the same as it sounds like you are experiencing when I came off the Methadone. It felt like the hairs on my arms and legs even hurt. The cat would want to rub up against my legs and i would have to kick him away. It was almost like I could feel when someone was within a foot from me and I would instantly just want to cringe. I don't remember how long it took for that to go away, there was just one day when it was gone. Good Luck Dawn
