but, my father made it through his surgery this morning just fine. They removed the mass and they feel it was a success.

You didnt tell us he was having surgery today??? I knew he was going to have his intestines removed but you didnt say when...So now the don't have to???

Hey Tom,

That's great news. What kind of cancer? My father beat some kind of lymph node cancer a little over a year ago. They've come so far with cancer today.

Yeah, he went in at 6 am in Philly and was finished by 10:30. I could not be there as I am away on business.

What kind? Lower intestine, he had a sugery a year ago but they missed this mass.

Does he have to do any chemo treatments for awhile to make sure the cancer doesn't come back?

I dont know about this time, but last time he didnt. He also had the frotal lobe of his lung removed in Jan without chemo either. I thought they would have done it, but no.

Well, if he's had a history with cancer returning then the really should. I don't understand why they wouldn't use the chemo...That is strange. I mean, when my father got out of the hospital he didn't have anymore cancer in him either. The chemo was just to make sure there isn't any other cells in there. Well, it's good he got it over with and is recoverying. I'll pray for a fast recovery and that this crap won't return anymore.

They found the cancer in his chest while testing him for the first surgery on his intestines. In that surgery, they missed (or couldnt see) the other mass. It was always there..I dont think there was any new cancer.... no worries, this time though, they removed his entire colon this time.

im sorry i didnt know he was having surgery either....I had a friend who had crones (sp?) disease and had a lot of her intestines removed...she is healthy now and has no more crones problems...amazing how we can live with less intestines.....

Anyway glad your dad is doing good...sorry not to be there for you.

I think I should have re worded the heading on this post.. Dont be sorry guys, I didnt mean to make anyone feel bad, I did mention it in one small post yesterday, This is actually the first time I have brought up my families medical problems.
