I quit taking my hydro 12 days ago. I was taking 42 mg a day for VERY legit pain. I still have the pain but quit because I would rather be in pain than addicted to something again. I quit Xanax and it was HORRIBLE! I really haven't felt any kind of unmanageable withdraw. Am I in for some rebound or something? I don't have any craving what so ever. I flushed all I had (over 100) and didn't think about it. Ok..OK..I had a headache..but that was it..so..where am I heading?
i wish i had the wisdom to help you through the withdrawal, but i have plenty of experience with pain. I have fibromyalgia and have gone through cervical spine surgery. my best friends now are an ice pack and some ibuprofen. using heat inflames the tissues, whereas ice constricts them. good luck sweetie!
Congrates on that big step

Bullwinkle,
Congrats on Day # 12. I knew you had quit but didn't realize you were getting close to the 2 week mark already! I am so proud of you! How is the weight picking up? I was worried you wouldn't keep gaining if you went through withdrawls. So is the IV still in? E-mail me soon and finish your story. Rae

Danny..the hydro isn't a mental thing for you as the xanax was, I think you'll be ok. You would have felt some w/d by now. How is your health? Weight? Please take care of yourself.

thats what i'm asking myself to danny,i just had surgery on my shoulder again for the fourth time hopefully this will be the last time but anyways the doctor gave me 2 weeks of pain meds[oxy's 40mlg] i have been takeing them as directed but i know in my hart that i'm probally going to go through the hell of withdraw again, shoulder pain is the worst nonthing pleasant about it,nonthing comes easy at least what i have seen with pain and addiction, just hang in there.........vinny
My weight is unbelieveable, to tell you the truth. I haven't weighed in since Saturday, but that was the two week mark and I gained 19 pounds. Everyone is saying I look way better. I have another 35 pounds to go until I am at my normal "look good weight". Anything over 180 and I start looking to much like "Fat b******" from the movie. hehe..I know Oxy is a lot worse to quit from. My Dr. offered it and I ran out of his office with my hair on fire..ya know, when it comes down to quality of life, I would much rather not take anything and try to handle the pain. TheXanax was bad enough. Thats why I shut down the hydro. My sister-in-law, a huge addict, almost had a heart attack when I told her I flushed them. The 100 is like a 4 day supply for her. She's bugging me to refill and give it to her. Ya ...right...no f******* way..still got the pain in the but IV in..thats a DRAG..but they lowered it to 16 hours a day..I'm still supposed to be on clear liquid (like broth) and no food..but ..hehe..I cheat...I'm still hanging with you guys though!
Danny, Hey buddy! It's great to hear that you are doing so much better!! After all you have been through, good news is a relief, huh?
I wouldn't worry too much about further w/d from the hydro. You got lucky, and smart. No addiction, no withdrawal.
I can imagine your SIL had a fit! Back in the day, I sure would have. When my friend's husband passed away from cancer, several of us users were there when the hospice nurse flushed hundreds of pain meds. We were all teared up and weak at the knees seeing it all go down the drain. You did the right thing, of course.
Take care, and please post more often. We miss you on here!
