They worked for me. Laughed my a** off. I have all of these books collected. Without doubt, the best freaking comic strip of all time. Pisses me off to see those Calvin stickers all over people's cars. (Wait a minute, did I just say it pisses me off?) People don't know those aren't legit Calvins...Bill Watterson never OK'd that, and he's really against it. But I'll get off my Calvin soapbox now.

I'm gonna have to print that link off and post it in my classroom for the next few weeks.

Yeah I don't know how it works...it must have something to do with the publishing company. Basically, Bill Watterson and his publisher had a huge falling out, which basically forced him into retirement. This was around 1990, when Calvin was at the peak of it's popularity in newspapers. Publishing company wanted to mass market Calvin...i.e. dolls, posters, who knows maybe major movies, stuff like that. Watterson was completely against anything of the type and wanted to keep the characters away from mass market hype. He basically was given a choice when it came time for his contract to be renewed. He chose to quit and keep Calvin as it was, thus ending the strip abruptly. Now I don't know where the stickers came from, but they are most certainly not Watterson's design. I've read articles from time to time about him and I think it reallly broke his heart that they made those stickers. Calvin was always a troublemaker but he had a good heart and those stickers are just not how that character was made out to be in his strips.

Oh misty,,, once we get a good chunk of snow,, hubby and I are going to carbon copy Calvin's Snowmans crossing to our neighbors driveway. lol

We are always trying to one UP each other on stuff.
