Hey Idg....I didn't hear about the skirt part. I did however hear about the Uggs being worn with shorts. Many people do that in Southern California!! I guess it is a Northern Hemisphere problem!

You guys would die if you saw one of the pair of Ugg boots I have! Talk about a fashion faux-pau....I just got sober and so wanted the pink Ugg boots that were very popular back in '03 (at least I thought so) ~ so I went to Nordstroms and the only kind I could find in my size were ones with rhinestones around the top....I bought em! Now, I only wear them under sweats and jeans, and everyone around here in SoCal does wear them outside with shorts, skirts, whatever, I don't like it much! I have the Ugg slippers too, heck I wear those, my pajama bottoms and usually an old sweatshirt when I go to the market at night...hmmm, sight for sore eyes...so there you have it I am one big fashion alert! Is there hope for me, am I salvagable ~ LOL!
I am with you VW...My oldest daughter (girlie-girl, fashion expert) feels there is no hope for me...too casual, don't care...will go out in whatever is on or comfortable...

Hey guys - thanks for all the laughs about the Ugg boots.
Seriously though, I was such a "no-care" when I was in the midst of my drinking that I would go to the store or out wearing any old crap dirty, stained, torn, no make-up, hair not done, looking like s*it.
So I personally find it is an important part of my recovery to dress appropriately when I go out. Even if it is just to the store for milk, and not wear my bum around the house clothes. Even if its a dressier pair of sweats, or jeans and a clean t-shirt. For me its about the respect I show myself. Of course in summer its very casual - but for me a minimum of clean, tidy, ironed etc.
Also, if you ever read a book called "Almost French" its about an Australian woman who marries a frenchman and goes to live in Paris. And he always got upset about her wearing daggy sweats down the street to go shopping. She said "its only going out to get bread." his reply "but its not nice for the baker"
You know that really stuck in my mind. REspect for myself and for others.
No judgement on anyone else here - just what is important for me...

Love what you shared with us Idgie thanks for that, actually I take waaaaaaaaaaaay better care of myself now that I am sober...I sometimes am not even recognizable to those who knew me when I drinking. So, all kidding aside, I do try to make an effort and look presentable, but some days I do go w/o the makeup and wear sweats, but not like the gross stuff I use to masquerade around in. This was a fun thread!
Hey Idgie thanks for that and at least now im sober i have clothes on when i get home bloody grate feeling you know cause usually my clothes succomed to my bodily functions when i was on a binge, at least now i can freeball in my jeans and not worry about farting OMG whats typed stays typed LMAO and not my jeans LOL
