O/t First Florida Hurricane!!!

AHHHHWAHHHH I'm living through my first florida hurricane and tornado watch! No one cares but I am so scared!!!! Everyone thinks I'm being a wuss ha ha, I don't want to die at work! The tornado is going to come and a house with a little girl and a little dog in it is going to fall on me! Nooo!
Trooper just wait and see.The best is yet to come. i moved from N.Y in 1992--just in time for hurricane Andrew.

Go to walmart 5 inch battery operated T.V radio/cd player freakin 37$ cant keep on the shelf.

Cost me 20$ to get 3 of them from storage. There stealing them and selling em on the street.--LOL got to love it.

Stock up on canned goods battery operated fan battery operated lights they have all types of stuff.

Google if you really want to learn all the tricks. Like water? you can use your washing machine as well as bath tub.

washing machine just clean it fill with water couple drops of bleach-Bingo--

Lots of stores are selling bottled water at discounted prices stock up NOW--

This is just a rain storm-Alberto? he is lame. Trooper come august you will be $hittin bricks--LOL--you get used to it real fast.

Make sure you have dry food for pets.

We need the rain lost like 90,000 acres due to fires. This state is a cesspool--

Evrey day I wipe off the ashes from my car. Good Luck trooper

Jeff

We get plenty of tornadoes here in the midwest but no hurricanes.
at least u get some weather variation ,over in old ireland we just get rained on,anyway troops keep the home fires burning ..davey
Trooper, you are in Florida!!!! It doesn't matter about the weather. It is all worth it because we get the beaches, the sun, water everywhere, no unemployment, good jobs, did I mention Disneyworld right down the street, the keys, the cruises - who cares if we get a little hurricane here and there. That's why we have hurricane parties.

Get your silly butt up and get you a GENERATOR. You can find them anywhere and not have to pay taxes on them. Did I mention Florida has no state income tax? Then, store some gas in the garage to run it. Everyone has to have a generator in Florida, that and a small Johnnie boat tied to your front porch. But, it's worth it. My tip for you as to water is to stockpile drinking water, and use the water in the retention pond behind your house (there is one within walking distance of anyone in Florida) to flush your toilet. Stockpile ice as well. The small tubberware containers are good to put water in and freeze - before the electricity goes out. You should have as many blocks as is possible for keeping things cold in your frig and freezer. Hopefully you have a grill. Flashlights, batteries, candles, non-perishable food, and a charged cell phone. But mostly, you need a Generator. Even a small one will keep a light on, a small fan blowing, and a television going. That's all you need until the lights come back on.

You will be fine! God bless you!

Well I'm all stocked up, looks like it's not going to be to bad, In orlando not going to get the worst of it. I have a convertable and my roof was leaking into my car today, gave me a surprise wet behind to go into work with, had to dry my pants off in the ladies room via the hand dryer, ha ha. NYHP... no unemployment if you can live off of $7.00 an hour while paying $900 a month for rent, and as far as the state tax goes, we have highway tolls up the ying yang and everything is ten million miles away! At least the gas is comparitively cheap, 2.77 compared to CT's 3.25. Who can afford to go to disneyworld anyway? Well waitressing with it's $3.00 an hour gives ya good tips in the right place, and bartending, well, I think it's a 6.50 maximum everywhere, but that gives even better tips, so can't complain on the job front when I'm back in buisiness. School is also an assload cheaper, and I think if you register as a FL resident it's even cheaper, I still haven't changed my LI over, need to get that on my to do list. I don't know if anyone's noticed, I hate this state!!! But I hate winter more so florida wins. Good luck making it through the storm guys, I'm going to be crying untill the end of October! You are so right suboxman, I am going to be pooing myself for sure!! Everyone I know has been laughing about me because I'm so paranoid about the storms!!!
Trooper hello

Your hurricane has been on our news i think they are naming it "Alberto" ??
I am in the UK.

I hope you are ok.

Emily
It's a shame that a hurricane struck Edmonton like it has. ;)
You are right about school. And don't forget interest on school loans is low. You need to line yourself up with another job through some education. I did waitressing a long while ago. I found out the higher the tab the better the tips, and the sooner I could get more education the less I'd have to put up with that type of living. Also, make friends with the hostess ( :

That reminds me, if you can't get a generator, next best thing is to have a friend who has one ( :

You are going to be fine!

Lois
Hello everyone, wow you guys pay alot for gas,us here in Montreal Canada it's about 109.3 and 112.2 it varies and we find this expensive.

Good luck hurrican ppl,I'll be thinking of all you guy's.

Stay safe and be strong.....A friend Teena
I live in New Orleans and, while we have hurricanes often, nothing was quite like Katrina.

The best advice I can give is : EVACUATE

For small storms, just stock up on snack foods, water, and batteries and you'll be fine.... Small storms are actually fun because the weather gets cooler and the wind feels so good when you sit outside (plus, it's a great time to stay home with your significant other and have some fun inside... lol)

But for bigger storms, JUST LEAVE. I'd rather ride out a hurricane in a nice hotel with A/C and food than sit at home in the heat, wondering if I'm going to drown in my attic.....

Can you tell I'm not looking forward to hurricane season this year????

Danielle
aww man danielle, if you get hit again this year I'm climbing the ladder to heaven and kicking some serious tail! Poor thing. I've heard that they are looking primarily at the atlantic coast... new england, ha ha!!! No that's mean, my ex is in new england and he yelled at me for being scared... he sucks!
