Off Topic, But So Very Important

Hi everyone,

I wanted to make a post on all of the groups I am a part of. This is the most important thing I have ever talked about.

I would like to ask everyone here to go and donate bone marrow. It is not the easiest request I know, but it can save soooooo many lives out there. I am watching people waiting for their lives to be saved. What they are waiting for is a match.

I watched a lady I know die last week because they could not find a match in time for her. I am lucky, I had two brothers who matched. I do not have to wait, but there are hundreds of thousands who don't have any family, and they are relying on people just like you to go and donate.

I know this is a lot to ask, as this is not the easiest thing to have done, but it is without a doubt the most rewarding. Like giving blood, bone marrow is NEEDED. It never goes to waste. If I can get just a couple of you to donate, then I feel like I have extended a couple more lives.

Please think about this, and if you can, please do it. I will be more than happy to make a personal letter of thanks right here on the boards. You would deserve a huge thank you from the world, but I can give you a pretty page, and a warm thank you.

Thanks for reading! The marrow you donate can help to extend the life of someone who is suffering, and maybe even help to save their life. Wouldn't that be worth it right there?

How do I go abouy it and i have high blood pressure would that make a differtice. I would love to help but it hurts doesnt it could you tell me more ,.yspearing

WHY WAS THIS POSTED HERE? I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS A RECOVERY BOARD AND NOT A BODY PART DONATION BOARD???????

Perhaps it might be helpful for you to read a few posts by this person before leaping to unfounded conclusions. Many are here because they use pain meds in connection with very serious health issues and not simply for kicks. Many provide amazing levels of hope and inspiration by rising above difficult personal situations, including those relating to addiction.

Lady Maverick has been posting on this board for quite some time and I for one welcome her posts. If you do not care to read this thread, I suggest you skip over it next time. Better yet, find another board to frequent that is more to your liking.

Who are you and why are you here? If you read the "topic" it did say "Off Topic". Why do you have such a problem with that? I'm sure if you shared your addiction problem (I'm assuming since youre on this board) with Lady M, she would reach out and help you, just as she did with me and many, many others.

So, I agree with August - dont let the door hit you where the good Lord split you. We dont need any more trouble makers here.

Just wanted to say "Hi". My PC's been down for a few days (I was going nuts) -but staying clean. I will ask my Dr. about that bone marrow donation. I have an appt next week. When I went to donate blood about a month ago - they wouldnt take me - said I was anemic. I'm sure I'd be fine now though!!
I'm sending some Florida sunshine your way along with a big (((((((HUG)))))).

AUGUGT, WHATEVER, I CAN SEE THAT YOU ARE UPSET WITH MY POST SO I GUESS I HIT A SORE SPOT. OH WELL. MY OPINION IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS YOURS IS. SO GET OVER IT. I DID READ THIS LADY SOMETHINGS POSTS AND JUST WAS SURPRISED TO READ THIS ON A RECOVERY BOARD FOR DRUG ADDICTS THAT IS ALL. NO NEED TO GET AN ATTITUDE WITH ME GUY. MARIE, JUST LIKE ME YOU ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE YOUR OPINION AS WELL SO THANK YOU FOR BEING SO NASTY TOO. CANNOT EVEN POST ANYTHING ON THIS BOARD WITHOUT SOMEONE GETTING THIER KNICKERS IN A BUNCH.

Yeah, they don't take lymphoma patients with really cruddy immune systems either, Marie. It is important, though. I lost a wonderful friend to leukemia last year and during her illness I became aware of the need for donors of platelets and bone marrow.

Thanks for looking after my dear friend Carrie. She has a lot on her plate right now without having to deal with the kind of insensitivity I saw displayed above.
