Off Topic... Need Help

Does anyone know what the rule is for baking a whole chicken? How long and at what temp? Its 7 1/2 lbs.
I've never baked a whole one, so I don't have a clue. The label said, "cook thoroughly"... (no sh*t) LOL

Thanks,
DeNae
I think it equals out to be...350 oven 20minutes per pound...I think...mjI usually just do it for 1-11/2 hrs at 350...good luck..mj
I am on the phone with my grandma and she says cook it on 350 and check it after 2 hours with a fork. If it is still tough or any blood then keep cooking for another 30 minutes and check it again. Hope that helps and your having a good day DeNae....
Rae
Hey there... hmmm... can't help you with the chicken... but i can tell you how to make a killer hamburger helper... lol :)
Thanks, MJ and Rae. I appreciate it.

Rae, be sure to thank Grandma for me. LOL, you crack me up. You are always willing to help out, no matter what.

Have a great evening.

LMAO Bri
If the chicken doesn't work out, I may get back to you on the Hamburger helper.
Hey I don't have to call grandma for hamburger helper tips. I can cook up any kind of helper meal all by myself- LOL I make great shake n- bake chicken and pork chops too. Or anything that is microwavable.. Just ask Tom and Frank a long time ago I used to make hamburger helper once a week and come on the board and tell them all to come over and eat! LOL I am always willing to help if and when I can. I try anyway. Let us know how that chicken turns out. Rae
Dear Denae,
Usually chickens that size have pop out timers, check to see. I cook mine on 375 for one that size about 2 hrs, I cover it with foil for the first 1 1/2 hrs then incover it till it is nice and brown.. Good Luck...Shel
Hey Rae... bet you can't top my mac and cheese... LOL!!! :)
Sandy,
Is that what that little red button is??
I feel like such an idiot. I was about to pull that out. LOL

Bear with me, guys. I will conquer this bird.

Thanks again,
DeNae
Hey Bri,
I bet I can. I am sitting here eating Ramon noodles-LOL Those are my favorite. Well that and those Maruchan (instant lunches).. I am going to turn into a noodle. My boyfriend got a huge box from Sam's club and I have been eating one everyday for lunch. LOL They are like 10 cents but mmm-- mmmm good! Hey I make a pretty good Mac and Cheese to. My family just doesn't appreciate all the good cooking I do for them:-0) Rae

Ps. DeNae-LMAO Is that what that red button is for? LOL Don't take it out and throwing away quite yet. I think you might need it..
Rae... wanna hear something funny? Well, my father in law was in town last week for a business trip and he called while i was in the middle of making hamburger helper... i told him he could come on over and eat with us. He goes, " Uhhh... ya'll wanna just go grab a bite to eat?". LMAO... see the last time he popped in unexpectedly i was "experimenting" with the cook book... and it didn't turn out so well. At the time, he said it was good... my husband kept saying that his dad was just being nice... guess he was right... LOL! Yeah, the ramen are good.... the kids loooove that which makes me looooove the ramen even more! :)
Bri-LOL That is funny. Your right kids love Ramen noodles. My 7 year old could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Well I am off here for a while. You all have a nice night. It is in the 60's here in Tampa. It is freezing.. Burr!! It's time to bust out the winter clothes and start a fire. LOL I know some of you are like 60 degree's but that cold for me. Anyway got to go finsih cleaning the bedroom and make it look like I have done something productive with my day. You ladies know the old vaccum before he gets home from work trick, don't ya? Rae
DeNae, Here's how I cook whole chickens

Step 1. Get in car, go to deli section of grocery.

Step 2. Pick out biggest rotisserie roasted bird and microwavable mashed potatoes which are usually located near the bird.

Step 3. Pay for bird, drive home.

Step 4. Throw away all packaging and put bird on a beautiful serving platter.

Step 5. Eloquently accept all praise for home cooked meal.

Just to clarify, step 5 is a comedy ritual at my house. Good luck with your chicken. I have no idea how to prepare one. The grocery store chickens are yummy. This recipe works well for chicken and noodles too. Good luck, Atlas

Hey there:

Ever tried the roasting bags. They tell you how long and temp. to cook. Also very tender and brown really pretty. No basting. I have cooked whole chickens and turkeys. So, easy and delicious.

Love,
Becky Jean
Ladies,

I'm proud to say that the bird turned out beautiful. I'm finishing up the veggies now. That little red button sure was handy.

Atlas, LOLOL, next time, I will be using your method.

Jean, I never thought of the roasting bags, but I will remember it for the next time. (if there is a next time) lol

Thanks everyone.
Denae, I really think your doing this on purpose. Last night the hot dogs and hamburgers, today the chicken, veggies. What have I done so wrong to you?
Atlas, you're my kind of cook, lmao.
Love, Kat
She knows Im not able to eat Kat and all she has been talking about is food, she is a meanie...
LMAO
Wendy, I'm so sorry. If it makes you feel any better, you probably could have ate the chicken. It was so tender and juicy. Fell right off the bone. hehe

smooches,
DeNae
