Okay, So When Does The Anxiety End?

So I didn't go to any meetings this weekend--and not because I didn't intend to! I didn't go Saturday because I spent the day on my John Deere cutting the grass which hadn't had rain in WEEKS, bouncing around in my head, all alone with my thoughts. When I was drinking I'd be amusing the crap out of myself and would have been cuttin' AND buzzin' by 11! I'm so sick I could talk myself into being responsibile for the Drought conditions here, as I haven't had to mow but two or three times ALL SUMMER LONG. That means I wasn't on my tractor in my head!
ANYWAY, I decided that I should get to a meeting on Sunday noon, and I drove all the way down there only to find out I didn't bring any shoes/flip-flops! Or a dollar! s***! So I told myself it would be okay and I should go home because I OBVIOUSLY wasn't supposed to BE in that meeting today... AND I could always catch the 2:00 Closed meeting.
Wrong! Spousal Unit (SU) wanted me to go with her to the MALL ("I See Regular People") and shop. Yiikes!
So I did. We spent the entire day together.

I need a meeting....

:)
Hi skg,

Shopping eh? Sounds like my idea of fun being a shopaholic among my other addictions. I didn't get to a meeting myself this weekend. I did my Reiki Masters course over the weekend. Reiki as well as being a form of healing also implies taking responsibility for oneself so I thought that it was time. It symbolised a point of transformation in my life and more importantly a point of growth. Although I should have gone to a meeting. I know that complacency can lead to relapse and I don't need that!!

I went to see my addiction councellor and just back home now. It was good I guess. I'm going to go back again.

I'm a month sober now and doing well. Proud of myself and feel much better. I went for a meal with the other half on Saturday night and we had a lovely time - not a wine bottle in sight, It proves it can be done.

Keep the faith, Rx

Hi Ruth--congratulations on the month. Seems so trite, doesn't it? Except that, at least in MY past, a month of not drinking SURELY would have been the death of me!
My approach has been to take the path of least resistance--and effort--to sobriety and going to meetings is keeping me sober and serene. I spent months and months coursing the www to find info on alcoholism and sobriety and all that stuff--so much that I scared myself! Just keeping me head down and working at enjoying one step--one hour--one day--at a time keeps me focused on the moment 'cause I scare the s*** out of me if I look any further ahead!
Congratulations again! It IS a big deal! How'd the cop-shop thing go? I can't remember what you called it--CRS (can't remember sh**T).
Ah yes the cop shop - well I took Friday off work - donned a smart suit all ready to supplicate (don't mean to be facetious) when I got a call from the arresting Garda to tell me that the forms I needed to sign were locked in his Sargeant's desk so I couldn't be cautioned that night!! I was a bit pissed off because I just want the whole sorry mess behind me and now I will probably have to go down again this week.

I'm willing to take my punishment but like I said I have never been in trouble before, good job etc.... and they seem to be making a bit of a meal of it.

In a way at least at my rock bottom - although awful and embarrassing - I didn't end up putting someone else or myself in hospital or worse. And that is a 'yet' for sure. It was only a matter of time. I'm so glad and grateful I'm sober today.
Gidday Skg

I found that when i am alone in my head negatively or worrying the crap out of something, i had to acknowledge that what i was doing was a waste of energy and counter with something positive and everyday for two weeks i ask my higher power for help in this area and if i have to i keep asking and stretching the two weeks out.
Go to a meeting in bare feet and no money you can always put extra in next time and to counter the anxiety of trying to think what everyone is thinking of how you look by sharing about it next time.
I have sat in a pub in a worse state, than bare feet and no money.

Hey Ruth Reki Masters sweet as, I do a wee bit of energy healing myself, and make sure that when you are practising that you allow what you feel in others to pass through you and not stay as it can wear you down, and it really helps with building trust in what i feel and my intuition, also the self healing is a bonus and the kids now get into doing self healing when they have a crash

Light and love zac
when you think that you don't need to go to a meeting, that is the most crucial time to go.
