Old Time Recovery
It's not old behavior if I'm still doing it.
If you're looking to have an image in NA, look around at the meetings you go to and take a look at whom you're trying to impress.
An addict is a person who wants to be held while he's isolating.
Recovery is the leading cause of relapse.
A treatment center is where you go and pay $15,000 to find out that NA meetings are free.
This is a 'One Day at a Time' program. If you are clean today, you are tied for first place in NA.
If using is interfering with your work, you're probably a heavy user. If work is interfering with your using, you're probably an addict.
I often obsessively pursue feeling good, no matter how bad it makes me feel.
When I was new, I didn't think I had any obsessions until I started thinking about it. Then it was all I could think about.
How come if drugs kill millions of brain cells, they never killed the ones that made me want to use?
If God were small enough to be understood, He wouldn't be big enough to be God!
If you want to quit using, you are going to have to quit using.
Newcomer: How do I know how many meetings I should attend each week?
Old-timer: Gradually cut back until you get high. Then you'll know.
I would rather go through life clean, believing I am an addict, than go through life high, trying to
convince myself that I am not an addict.
Resentments are like stray cats: if you don't feed them, they'll go away.
Before I came into NA, I was dead, but I did not know enough to lie down.
I used when I was happy. I used when I was unhappy. Actually, I am a reason to use.
You don't have to be sick to want to get well. But if you don't want to get well, you ARE sick.
I can't do His will my way.
In order to change the way we feel we need to change the way we act.
There is only one way to coast, and that is down hill.
The good news is you get your emotions back; the bad news is you get your emotions back.
All we ask is that you completely change your attitude as soon as possible.
I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess.
The good news is you get your emotions back; the bad news is you get your emotions back.
So true.
So true.

LOL...I'm close to a few that went that route, thousands of dollars, 28 days and then told to go to a meeting, buy a big book and follow it.
Those were good!

That was my favorite too, Stace.
I love the one about "look around you and see who you are trying to impress". LOL That was so me in the beginning. I wanted to be different. Felt so judged until I gave myself permission to listen.
One of my favorites from beck in the day: You would not worry so much about what we think of you if you realized how rarely we do."

I tell this to my friend Chris quite often, which he it turn tells me to quite taking inventories, especially his.....lol
Oh, and the isolating alcoholic that wants to be held...yep, that was me!

I think most of us can relate to every single comment. Why do we fight it?

Stacey, this one stands out to me, too.
But I like this one better!

Reminds me that even one day matters. Or better yet, that only today matters! Oh...and it also makes me feel like a winner for the first time in a very long time! :)
I have one to add...was reading another post and thought of it....
Only an addict can be laying in the gutter and look down their nose at another addict and judge them....
And bump for this one....I need to read it over and over....
