Hey, On the FoxNews crawl I just saw a reference to the Bum Dope "laced w/ Fentanyl" that is causing "Hundreds" of deaths--according to Fox.What exactly is Fentanyl? Brynn, I think, told me it was Bad-that's obvious, but what is it? Some crazy animal tranq,or what? And why would you use it in Dope? Or is it used as a cut? Anyone know?
Fentanyl
First synthesized in Belgium in the late 1950s, fentanyl, with an analgesic potency of about 80 times that of morphine , was introduced into medical practice in the 1960s as an intravenous anesthetic under the trade name of Sublimaze. Thereafter; two other fentanyl analogues were introduced; alfentanil (Alfenta), an ultra-short (5-10 minutes) acting analgesic, and sufentanil (Sufenta), an exceptionally potent analgesic (5 to 10 times more potent than fentanyl) for use in heart surgery. Today, fentanyls are extensively used for anesthesia and analgesia. Duragesic, for example, is a fentanyl transdermal patch used in chronic pain management, and Actiq is a solid formulation of fentanyl citrate on a stick that dissolves slowly in the mouth for transmucosal absorption. Actiq is intended for opiate-tolerant individuals and is effective in treating breakthrough pain in cancer patients. Carfentanil (Wildnil) is an analogue of fentanyl with an analgesic potency 10,000 times that of morphine and is used in veterinary practice to immobilize certain large animals.
Illicit use of pharmaceutical fentanyls first appeared in the mid-1970s in the medical community and continues to be a problem in the United States. To date, over 12 different analogues of fentanyl have been produced clandestinely and identified in the U.S. drug traffic. The biological effects of the fentanyls are indistinguishable from those of heroin, with the exception that the fentanyls may be hundreds of times more potent. Fentanyls are most commonly used by intravenous administration, but like heroin, they may also be smoked or snorted.

Fentanyl has been diverted by pharmacy theft, fraudulent prescriptions and illicit distribution by patients, physicians and pharmacists. Theft has also been identified at nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. Fentanyl oral transmucosal lozenges (Actiq) are typically sold at $20-25 per unit or $450 per carton (contains 24 units) while transdermal patches (Duragesic) are sold at prices ranging from $10 to $100 per patch depending upon the dose of the unit and geographical area. There is evidence of large illegal distribution rings selling fentanyl products along with other opioid pharmaceuticals.

Whoa Guest! Thanks for the thorough info!No wonder everyone's droppin like flies...
Don't even mess with it or even think about it alaska......that's what an old head told me years ago when the patches were on the street........that stuff makes Dilaudid coupled with demerol look like an asprin.......Tina on families had good info on it too, and someone else how if it don't kill ya you'll be in diapers, and drooling in a nursing home.
Personally, I think they did this as people's tolerance upped, and also to overide other dealers........you know how us addicts look for the killer.....NOBODY is immune from that stuff....NOBODY......not an addict of thirty years...........in itself Fentanyl can kill you.......don't need no dope with it.
Guest great information.......thank you so much........my grandpop had the patches because he was dying of cancer.......I took care of him, and had been clean about a year, but let me tell you when I applied that patch....I was tempted to take a lick or so........oh, and also they have those lollypop's for break through pain...............called like Aqtquick or something......yeah just have a lolly of Fentanyl why not????????????
There are right now so many grieving families........I am pretty sure it was here in Philly as one of the first places to hit, and also jersey, and Delaware....the Tri-State area...........I had no idea if would be all over like that.
Please let's send up prayers....or healing vibes to the families whose loved ones died because of that stuff.
Not that it would bother or stop an addict, but with the patches even if you applied them as directed they can leave scar like marks.......I was in rehab with a girl whose DOC was crack, but she liked the patches on her to even out or something........this girl had marks from the adhesive, and i mean bad marks all up and down her back, arms, and legs.......she is African-American and I am not sure if it certain pigments that it happens to or any skin type, but she was told it was permanent........I am pretty sure it is.
Now is a good time to anyone still using to kick........definately a good time.
