One Of Life's Little Ironies

I had an epiphany this morning. Ive moved around all my life, never staying in the same place for more than a couple three years. My father dragged us all over the world chasing the next news story and then I married a man (no surprise) who was always after a better job. Im not complaining about this. Ive enjoyed living in many interesting countries. However, I was never encouraged, and there was no incentive, to develop friendships that would stand the test of time.

This year, the decision on whether to emigrate permanently to New Zealand was placed entirely in my hands. And for the first time in my life, I decided to return to the starting point of the journey, to stay in a place I choose, for better or worse, to call Home. In my entire life, Ive never made that choice (and let me tell you, Ive agonized for two years over this one).

It hit me this morning that my decision to quit drugs came on the heels of my decision to return to NC, to my house and the dear friends Ive made there.

And it just cracks me up that soon after I make those hard, hard choices, I find an online world of dear, loving, supportive friends (that would be YOU, here on the board) that I can pack in my carry-on suitcase and take with me wherever I go.

One of lifes little ironies. Im proud to know you all.

Love,
Gina
glad to hear we are portable!
Well it's about time I got to go somewhere, thanks for bringing me along, Gina.
Portable....good one, Janet. Love, Kat
Glad to here you made a decision that will make you happy... I wouldnt want to live in New Zealand anyway... Too many Hobbits and Orcs..lol. Anyway, when you fly back to the states, do yourself a favor and hit yourself in the head with a hammer, that should cut down the agony of being on a plane that long.. and by the time you wake up, you will only have 14 more hours to travel !

Regards,
Tom

Life is full of ironic things, like the other day I needed a fork and all I could find was 10,000 spoons.

Proud to know you too Gina.

All we have are sporks (or foons depending on who you ask)
Gina, did you by any chance visit Maui?
I sound like a crackpot, but I am just curious...I met a great couple from NC that were moving to NZ ....not too long ago. I know there are millions of people in the world...lol.
Kerry
Wow Janet, that was a great post, thank you for sharing. BTW you are doing great! I am proud of you, I love ya, Kim
Janet and Kat,

Youre highly portable. I carry you in my heart. The computer is just convenient cover because the flight crew gets nervous when I start talking to myself. As far as getting to travel, to quote Buckeroo Banzai, No matter where you go, there you are.

Tom,

Last time I did the long haul, I flew Air Valium. I dont think security will let me through with a hammer. And dont talk to me about orcs and hobbits. My sons are Tolkienazis. Ive been to every LOTR shooting location on the North Island. Dont know how many times Ive sat through the trilogy (extended edition) but I was stoned all those sessions so it seemed like a new movie every time.

Redd,

Can you post pictures of the puppies? I told the boys about your puppy rescue and they think its a super thing you did.

Kerry,

Nope, never been to Hawaii. But you're not a crackpot for asking. NZ's been flooded with Americans since the November elections.

Love,
Gina
I met a lady and the coincidences (even nationality) were similar...
I would love to see NZ someday!!
I hope you are doing well....it is nice to meet you.
