I am a mother and I need help on some detox programs for my child.
Also is it possible to only take oxys once a week?? That is what my child has told me. I have had implants put in her twice and it seemed to help but the treatment fac. is 7 hours away. This makes it a hardship on me. I have been thinking of Buprenorphine for treatment. Does anyone know about this treatment?

Dear Ms. You do not include details in your post so I cn not advise beyond my own knowledge of bup. A form of this called Buprenex is what many hhospitals now use for inpatient treatment for withdrawal symptoms in place of the widely used Methadone method. Recently a pill form called subutex was approved as a prescribed medication for withdrawal symptons and with an added ingredent called naloxone which is an opiate blocker. A doctor must have a special certification to prescribe these pills in accordance with government regulations. That's because this is a fairly new program in America and there are strict guidlines for the doctors who prescribe this on an outpatient basis. The reports have been good on this drug because it eliminates the old way of having to deal with the methadone clinics. I do not know why you are asking about this as a pain med. though. While it claims to have some pain relief properties it does not take the place of narcotic medications. It is addicts to relieve withdrawal symptoms and then stay on for a time agreed upon by you and the prescribing doctor. I suggest you read more posts on the subject. donalee

p.s. I don't know what you mean by "can you use oxy once a week"? Do you mean your child told you you could use it once a week and not become addicted? Sounds like manipulation. If you can be clearer on what you mean, maybe we can help. good luck, donalee

My child has been clean for about 8 months thru implants but I did find out that she has relapsed. I have an appt. for Wednesday to get help. The doc prescribes buprenorphine. I hope this helps with the addition of oxys. (snorted)
I really hope someone can help me with some info on this treatment.
