Pancreatitus???

I was wondering if anyone else here has screwed up their pancreas as I have as a result of drinking? I have had to be hospitalized 4 times with Acute Pancreatitus because of my excessive drinking. I am only 34 so it really does help detour me but I still think I can drink maybe just one and not have an attack. The docs did tell me that I could still be hospitalized without drinking because my pancreas is sooooo badly diseased. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through it.....

I will be sober today because pancreatitus is really painful!!!!!

Valarie, my liver, my gall bladder and my pancreas were so jacked up from drinking and drugging...and the only thing that seemed to make the physical pain go away was drinking....pancreatitis can progress to pancreatic cancer, which this is no cure for...death is pretty swift with that type of cancer. However, for me once I stopped drinking, it's amazing how quickly my physical health was regained and my vital organs began to regenerate and revitalize; there is hope and it starts with stopping drinking.
VW Girl,

Yeah it is crazy what it will do to you. My liver enzymes were really high when I was in the hospital and I lost my gallbladder since I never ate right so it was screwed up too. It is just amazing how much better I feel too. I have been sober almost 9 months. My doctor told me that I will more than likely get pancreatic cancer later in life... Oh well...nothing I can do about it but try and stay sober today! thanks for your words!!!

Hi Valerie. I have it but it has less to do with drink and is some other cause. I admit, I'd liked to tip them, as any normal person would. There are a lot of causes though. Yours might not even be because of drinking the most cases are attirbuted to that, but you are right. It's Sooooo painful. I'been in the hospital 17 times because of attacks.
Hi Valarie: Sorry to hear about your painful experience, yikes! What are the symptoms? heck I could have been suffering but never knew what it was?

It's unblieavble pain,weightloss. It's bad.
No I can't say I've experienced that, I did have kidney stones when I was a teenager, and so many UT infections, I drank ALOT when I was younger, so I'm sure those issues were caused from drinking. In my adult years, it has been blackouts and waking up with bruises and cuts on my body, not very pretty, so glad I 'm sober now!!

Oh Lovedove, i can certainly relate to that. Sometimes i thought someone beat the crap out of me....well i guess someone did, me!

Valerie, I'm sorry you are going through such pain. I really don't know much about it but i had a friend who had problems like that and he kept drinking and his doc told him he'd die if he kept drinking. I don't know how he is today, as i moved about 200 miles north of my hometown about 6 years ago, but i have heard he's been hospitalized in the ICU a few times now, and still drinking.

I also had terrible pain in my stomach and abdomin for about the last 2 years that i drank. I never had it checked out because i was afraid to, but it has gone away since i've been sober.
Hope you can get over this pain soon, geesh, that has to be terrible!
Good reminder of the cuts, scrapes and bruises...I use to wake up like that too! I felt like I had been run over by a truck, probably just fell alot and didn't remember it, or bump into stuff. The pain (dull chronic ache) in the upper right quandrant that I experienced for almost a decade was my liver....glad to report things are pretty much back to normal.
