Paxil Good Or Bad?

My Dr. put me on Paxil.

Just reading about it made me not want to start it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I was on it for about 5 yrs. for me, it was worse getting off paxil than it was getting off hydro!!!!

That is my experience.
i agree wuth trying,

getting off ad.'s suck and w.d.'s are same as w/d off anu opiate, not only that. medsact differently on different people that one particulr one made me severly suicidal. it did more damage then good. my 2nd and 3rd week on it i was a walking head case (not that i'm not now hehhehe) but at least now i am a fun one. when i was onpaxil i had no will to live i cared about not even mykids. i knew then that i was not myself. mykids are my everything. they are my drive will , motivation and inspiration. something else to consider.

I had no problems at all ... on it or getting off.... I got off cause of my hubby's complaints of the sexual side effects....lol... anyhoo.... no problems with it on any other front.... but then again I am not sensitive to any of the ssri's... I have tried many.... I would recommend them to most recoverying addict at least in the short term esp if you have been using for a long time of have a family history of depression......

just my 2 cents.

My mom has been on paxil for years and it's a weird one. It absolutely makes you have no feelings. You're not up and you're not down. She doesn't cry (use to all the time). It just evens you out so everything is just O.K. They put me on Cymbalta, it's new from the FDA and it has worked wonders for me. I have chronic pain and it's the only antidepressant that's been approved for both pain and depression and I can still get emotional, which you need.
Hey greg...I'm on Cymbalta, for an ad..I haven't tried Paxil, but never heard anything good about it. Did you discuss the meds with your Dr? Look it up on the internet. I always try and learn as much as I can whenever my Dr puts me on meds...that's just me, it's up to you whether you take it or not. Did your Dr diagnose you as Depressive? Take care, Kim

Kansas, you're on Cymbalta?? Me too, it is a great AD don't ya think? I've been on it 8 weeks.
md, it's the best, and they tried me on a bunch of different ones. I've never felt better but I also know that getting off the pain meds have helped it too. But I don't have those up and down PMS moods all the time. I'm just happy most of the time. No side effects either, haven't gained weight like I did on Zoloft!
