Just wondering where everyone is and if you all are ok,..check in?
Hi - thanks for thinking of me. I had back surgery on Feb 21st and had to go back on pain pills, after being so many months clean, and it about killed me to do it but I HAD TP.... had a three hour surgery (laminectomy with discectomy) and leading up to surgery, had the most horrendous right leg pain you can imagine since he herniated disk was pressing right on the large S1 nerve that goes down your leg, from the butt down.
I had the MRI in November and that is about the last time I really posted, I bet, since I was afraid of needing pain pills.
I never had surgery (with general anesthestic - with oral surgery I had IV sedation).
the surgery went well - the right leg pain is resolved but I still have back pain where they went in and did all their work.
So I've been home for a little over two weeks, pretty depressed over not being able to do much. No lifting, no bending (hell, I can't even pick a kleenex up off the floor).
I am just over two weeks post-op and ready to get off the pills soon..... I have my husband holding them and everything, but even though it wasn't my fault, I am really confused and felt like a failure.
So that's where I've been.
I'll write more later, promise - I'm going to need some help here real soon.
Love

Oh and sorry for all the typo's - I am tired and I only can sleep about 4-5 hours at a time, or I wake up all cramped up from being in the same position.
I meant I had TO take meds ... not had TP.meds... duh.....
Couldn't find the edit function! DUH.

It's so good to come here today and see your posts Sue. Really glad that your surgery is over and you're on the mend. Be kind to yourself, it takes time. You'll know when you're ready to get off of the pills. My rule of thumb was that when I started questioning whether I needed them or not, it was NOT. Ibuprophen took care of the pain way better at that point. You'll know. Please keep in touch, sounds like you've got some time on your hands so maybe you'll be able to check in once and awhile. Take care, Lisa
