Please Help Me Find A Rehab For My Son!

Please help me find a rehab for my son. I'm so overwhelmed with all of the information out there and on the internet that I'm at my wits end. I thought I had help for him at Narcanon in Michigan but we have read such awful things about that facility that it has scared us away. He is crying out for help and I can't find anyone or anywhere that will take his insurance or that will let him start without thousands of dollars!!! He has a job, applied for FMLA yesterday, and is ready to go but we can't find a place. I NEED HELP! He's at the point where he is detoxing on his own and says he's just going to go to VA outpatient when he's done withdrawing. He CAN'T do this! He's a vet who is suffering from PTSD and the VA is NO HELP AT ALL! Help me help me help me help him please. He's sick and can't make decisions right now. I need a place that will work with him with a small down payment and his insurance. PLEASE HELP ME! If ANYONE has ANY suggestions no matter how small PLEASE HELP US! I live near Amarillo and he is in Houston. Of course I'd prefer to have him close to me but at this point I DON'T CARE!

BTW his drugs are oxycontin, suboxone (using to try to withdraw), and marijuana. He is not prescribed these legally and gets them on the street. HELP!

Dear Ann, I am sorry about your son. I sense the desperation in your post....You mentioned he is getting suboxone off the street, with suboxone you need to be monitored by and a doctor and be under doctors care...You mentioned he is a vet ,have you considered calling a state representative and seeing if somehow they can assist you in getting assistance for a rehab facility for your son? You mentioned he has insurance have you called the insurance and asked what facilities they are willing to cover? Is your son able to see a physician who might be able to assist with getting him placed in a rehab? When our kids are effected with addiction we must become advocates for their care...I'm sorry I am no where near where you live but as I said get him under doctors care first, maybe he can advise you ,next call the insurance company see what rehabs they cover call veteran dept see if they can assist you, call some of the rehabs yourself and inquire. ..but make sure he is the one wanting to get clean. ...put yourself to work and explore every avenue...if someone says they are unable to help you move on to the next place. .good luck.
Is your son attending NA meetings?

The folks there will be able to help.

All the best.

Look to local churches. Talk to the local jail, volunteers often come once or twice a week and are aware of local programs.

Find out the laws in your area:
Most states have some type of law that allows an addict to be temporarily detained.

Good luck and God Bless!
Thanks for everyone's advice. I have actually done a little bit of everything that has been suggested in the last couple of days. He did contact the VA and they are working on a program for him. And.......YES he is wanting help. My frustration level is about to do me in......I do believe we have to be advocates for our children and even though he is 31, I still have to help him.

Thanks Again!!!
Dear Ann,Thanks for the update on your son.I have said for years as parents we have to be advocates for them....I wish you and your son the best. ..we're always here if you need someone to talk to....
There is a year long program in North Carolina. It's called TROSA. It's a free program. They provide everything right down to cigarettes. They work on the premise that rehab has to be coupled with real life activities. They support themselves by putting the residents to work day one in one of there three businesses...inter and intra state moving company, landscaping company and a store. Housing is provided while all duties of the facility is tended to by residents. So sad that the VA cannot help your son and Veteran. Good luck to him.
