PAW....has anyone else heard of this? Post Acute Withdrawl?
I saw on one of the other boards (other prescription drugs) a link describing things that happen after we are sober. I think it is the first post on that board. It lists different drugs and then says great info? I would attach it here but I don't know how. *doh* Anyway.... I have experienced soo many of them I couldn't even list them all. Has anyone else gone through this since getting sober?
Insomnia, moodiness, over reacting to literally nothing...etc....etc...etc... I also read on the link that the term "Dry drunk" refers to how your balance is off and people tend to stumble around because they lose coordination or something to that affect? So they described it as people looking drunk but not being drunk or high? I always thought that dry drunk was not drinking anymore but still having the same issues that caused us to drink in the first place. It was describing what happens when coming off of pills but I feel the same way and I am sober from booze not pills.
Has anyone else gone through any of this?
Just a bit curioul is all. Yep.... curioul not curious! lol
Peace Out People!
Valarie, my D&A counselor said there were 5 possible symptoms that were part of "PAWS".
1) loss of physical coordination, clumsiness etc.
2) short term memory problems
3) emotional dysfunction, under or over reacting
4) sleep disturbances
5) chronic fatigue
Thats all I know, hope this helps...
Bye for now, Cookster.

Thanks Cookster...I have them all. I even run into doorways sometimes. It's nutty but it happens. The other day I got into the car and slammed the door on my own damn leg! LOLOL....Can you even believe that??? I never sleep either. I thought at first it was just because I wasn't passing out but I have been sober for a year and a half and I still don't sleep well.
Thanks for the info....I don't think I have ever chatted with you before. I think you are new?? There isn't a date by your name so I'm not sure. I started coming on here about a year ago. Everyone was sooo helpful to me when I thought I was gonna slip. Welcome to you and thank you for the information.
This board truly has been a God send to me. I am not in AA so this was pretty much my meetings and support when I was about 6 months into sobriety.
I kept hearing that I should be in some sort of program or therapy and then I stumbled across this site. Everyone here is sooo supportive!

Hi Valarie, I'm a necomer here, I first posted to this board about a month ago. I too have found the people here to be extremely supportive and helpful. I stumbled across this site while looking for information about the drug Antabuse. A month ago I was so discouraged about my drinking I thought that I couldn't quit with out taking some kind of drug. (Antabuse is the drug that makes you sick if you drink) However, to my surprise I have finshed my first month of sobriety. This board is my primary source of support for maintaining my sobriety. I still haven't officially registered on this board, I suppose I should, its probably not too complicated even for a "technoweenie" like me.
Nice to "meet" you Valarie...
Bye for now, Cookster.

Hi Val. I came across that thread on another board as well. I think a was able to comprehend the gist of it. But will need to re-read as to much info for me to absorb all of it. I wished I would have known these symptoms can be a normal part of recovery. It is part of the process of healing. Knowing this now I believe it will help me to accept the symptoms, which can help me not to pick up again. I don't know how to tranfer the post either. I wished I did.
