Hi everyone, I am asking for your prayers for the family, friends and loved ones of these poor children....On Sunday morning, at around 2:00 in the morning, a group of 9 teenagers, ranging from age 14 to 17, piled into a Infinity sedan, seated for only 5, with a 23-year-old individual who was under the influence of alcohol. She was traveling down route 31 at a high rate of speed and lost control of the car and hit a utility pole. Four of these teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene, the other 5, along with the driver of the vehicle are in critical condition at local hopsitals. These children were friends and classmates of my 16-y/o daughter. My heart aches for the families of these teens. If any good is to come out of this tragedy, please, please, please, do not drive under the influence....these tragedy could have been avoided altogether. Thank you for listening.......

I will say a prayer for all of the people affected by this tragedy....I'm a mother of teenagers and have had to face too many children dying over the last few years...Alcohol/drugs, cars, teenagers & high rates of speed is a deadly combination....

Thank you Stacey!! You are so sweet. This whole event has just hurt my heart so. My daughter understands now why I want to know where she is every minute, who she is with, what they are doing, and what they plan on doing, and that I am not being too overprotective.

Dawn, both Jewels and i live not too far from where it happened..man, thats tragic.seeing those kids faces on the news..they all looked so innocent..just some 15-16 year old kids and now they are dead..it's pretty upsetting.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.
Man can I relate to this...my son lost his best friend of 10 years when he was 16 years old in an accident very similar to this. He is 22 now but has not really fully recovered from losing Rob. He was suppose to be in that car that weekend but by the grace of god I grounded him.
He was angry as hell at me...then he found out what happened and he has been living with some strange survivor guilt ever since. i suppose my life would have been very different as well.
My deepest heartfelt prayer go out to the families involved in this tragedy. Please god let the souls of those young people rest in peace and aid there surviving family member in the healing process!

danny and i live near the scene, for me its about a 20 min. drive south. i could not believe my eyes when the paper came and there are 9 faces on the front page of the newspaer announcing this terrible tradegedy.
have you heard an update about the survivors?
the paper said one girl was in fair condition while the others are critical, the driver was 23 and intoxicated and the only one ejected from the vehicle. she is in critical conditon at rush copley hospital,
these kind of stories will be on my mind for a long time. a few years back 4 young girls decided to do some pre homecoming tp-ing against there moms not wanting them out so late and here comes a drunk driver with a female passenger in his vehicle, all 5 women the 4 teens and the drunk drivers passenger were killed, he survives of course why is it the drunk usually survive, anyway those 4 crosses for the teens girls were up for about a year and everytime i would have to go to the mall i would see those crosses i thought about the mother who said her daughters homecoming dress was hanging on a hanger outside of the living room closet never to be worn, and the news showed the funeral procession's that occured on a dreary fall day. how can a parent endure that pain?? the drunk driver served a short sentence and is released, its funny his cousin is my next door neighbor! how sad God please be with the families. jewels

I have a son who can get his learner's permit this year. Believe me, I'm praying.

Hi Jewls, the accident happened about 10 mins from my house. I live in Montgomery, unincoporated Oswego. I read in one of the papers that the driver of the car has two little babies - toddlers. They are charging her with 4 counts of vehicular homicide. My daughter's school had to have the police posted at each door becuz the press kept trying to get into the school to talk to the kids. I mean, come on, they are having a hard enough time as it is. They had grief counselors seeing kids thru out the day on Monday. This sort of tragedy affects the whole community. May God bless their young souls....sigh......
That is so sad! I'll keep the families in prayer.

wow dawn, i cant believe we live so close, i live in aurora, what a terrible tradgedy, tonights paper lists the teens funerals, the driver has improved to fair condition now and she is being charged with quite a few felonies, she will go to jail as soon as she is released.
they also have a picture of the twisted vehicle in the paper tonight. one obituary read, "after four sons we finally got our princess" she is now gone.
i guess police are investigating the home where the party took place and who served the alcohol.
there were 3 people in the front seat and 6 in the back seat. i told my sons now you know why i keep such a tight leash on you, they claim i am too over protective and its true, i would just die without them, i feel so bad for the parents and families.
the injured are still fighting for their lives, one girl has been listed in good condition, one boy had 10 hours of surgery to repair a fractured pelvis, femur and arm, the other two boys conditions are not being released, i heard a rumor that one boys feet were severed off! Hey Jewls, what a small world, I was born and raised in Aurora...East side. They need to investigate the house these kids were at and charge the appropriate individuals with contributing liquor to minors. The house they were at is a few blocks from mine - in Boulder Hill. My daughter said that she heard one of the boys was in the trunk and his leg was amputated. But, could just be people talking. I am so in total agreement about being overprotective, in my opion there is no such thing as being too overprotective. I can never in a millon years imagine burying one of my kiddos - the pain these poor families must be going thru. My mother's best friend for 45 yrs, her grandaughter was supposed to be in that car. I guess these kids coherced her into coming out with them, but for whatever reason they did not pick her up. Thank the Dear Lord!! I am glad that my kiddos know they can call me, no matter what time, I will come get them, no questions asked.
Why in God's name would a woman that age be supplying liquor to minor's? Guess she'll regret that now.

i have spent the entire week mourning and praying for these families as our newspaper covered the funerals and wakes and burials of these young people, when i went to work last sat, my girlfriend said her son was at the party!!! he said he and his girlfriend stopped by to show the 14 yr old girl who died in the crash the dress she had worn to a wedding we had all attended a few hours before the crash. they said no adults were present at the time, i find out that this girl brianna who is my girlfriends sons girlfriend was best friends with the 14 year old girl katie merkel. well my girlfiends son r.d. and brianna said they didnt feel comfortable at the party, everyone was so intoxixcated so they stayed maybe 5 min and left. r.d and brianna say that an adult came home saw what was going on and kicked all the underage drinkers out of the house! so with no where to go the 23 yr old girl offers them a ride home and they all pile into the car like sardines,one teen was dropped off safely before the crash so that means there were 10 teens in the car plus the 23 yr old drunk driver! now this is all speculation as is the same thing i heard there was a teen in the trunk, the paper never mentions this, the paper states two teens shared the passenger seat while 6 teens are in the back seat with one teen lying across their kneesl
the front seat passengers and the rear passenger on the right side and the teen lying across the knees of her friends were the ones who died as the cars right side slammed into a utility pole.

my son heard on tv news last night that one of the survivors died, the mcgee boy, i need to check the paper but it hasnt arrived yet. now thats 5 deaths, rumor has it the the drunk driver has not been told that anyone died in the crash, i guess they thought it would hinder her recovery in the hospital, she is in BIG trouble and will be arrested as soon as she is discharged from the hospital. jewels
