I am 26 years old and am 16 weeks pregnant. I am using methadone and xanax. I was pregnant November of last year and only made it to 6 weeks without misscarriage. Before that i saw my obgyn and told him i was taking methadone (which at the time was the only thing i was using). I recieved a phone call from his office a week later telling me he had to discharge me as a patient because he couldn't accept my insurance(yeah right!!!) He told me to quit the methadone, but from what i undertstand it could have harmed the baby. I am just trying to find out if anyone has any information on what i should do.. I am scared to tell my new obgyn because i'm scared he will discharge me too. My worst fear is that I will deliver this baby and it will be addicted. Does anyone have any info on a doctor i could speak with that can give me info on what i need to do...or has anyone been in a similar situation and could give me some advice??? The clocks ticking....i'm scared. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Also it's important to tell your doctor about the methadone so they can better help you even if it means doctor shopping to find someone really good for you and your situation.

i was on methadone my intire pregency w/ twin girls it is to dangerous to the baby to feel withdrawl thats why i was on it during my pregency, methadone will not hurt you baby but getting off while pregnet is very much so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats why i was put on it cause i was abusing Vicdion 20daily. you need a doctor fast to help you, you actually sue that doctor for malpratice for putting your baby and you in that sistuation, when i finnally got of of methadone 80mg iit was when the babies were 1 year old and i went thru pure hell!!!!!!!!!!!!! no slepping, irratable as all hell, restless legs and arms that made me want to kill myself, so there are just a little of my life, if you like you can e-mail me since i would respond to the e-mail way faster it is (mitzy49@commcast.net) ok your set . keep in touch you need it weve both been thru it trust me , take care and god bless you and your baby. p.s . i am a nurse as well.
