I have been tapering off of my ultracet and doing great! I am so proud I've only took 2 for the past two days. I went to the doctor to talk to her about coming off. She said to taper and she put me on prozac. The pharmacy wouldn't fill my script because of the drug interaction. They contacted my doctor any way to make a long story short she changed it to wellbutrin and that's just too expensive for me at this point. The doctor said that she could change it back to prozac but only if I stopped the ultracet cold turkey. I am down to two so I am going to try it. Does anyone have any info on taking both at the same time, don't think that I am going to , but just curious.
Hi,
I don't have any experience with taking those together, but, I'd say if your down to taking only two a day of the ultracet it probably wont be a problem stopping
them cold turkey. At this point I'd say it's just a comfort thing and you'll feel good going off completely. I'll say a prayer for ya', good luck and let us know how your doing.
Take care......God bless.......Bob

Thanks so much for the advice this board has been such a blessing.
Yeah, I would definately agree with Bob, if your only taking 2 a day it might be time to jump off.

is ultracet a narcotic? I know at one time they were promoting as a painkiller with no opiates? Anyone know?
Hi Tabitha, I agree with everyone else here. If you are only taking 2, flush them and go for it! The prozac will come in handy, when the depression part of the w/d's kick in! My Dr put me on that first, when I quit oxy's, long story short, I am now on Cymbalta, works great for me, and there is even a pain reliever in it already! Good luck, and god bless, Kim
Hope this helps ya' a little......Tramadol = Ultram = Ultracet
Drug Uses
Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain. It also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
How Taken
Tramadol comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken every 4-6 hours as needed. It may be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Tramadol exactly as directed. Tramadol can be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose take it more often, or for a longer period than your doctor tells you to.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Tramadol, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease; liver disease; or a history of alcohol or drug dependence. You may not be able to take Tramadol, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above.

Hi,
I do know it's considered a narcotic. In fact, a few years ago I heard they were gonna get it reclassified as a narcotic. When I got out of rehab they gave me a list of medications to stay away from and Ultram was on it. Anyway, have a nice day.

Hi Kansasgirl and Kim,
I take it that both of you are on Cymbalta.....you guys are like a ray of sunshine today. They gave it to the hubby, and I have never seen such a positive change since November when he started trying to get clean. It is so profound that I could swear he is still doing lines of herion.....but I know he isn't.
I have a question, he is still tired at times on it will that fade out in time.....he has been on 2 weeks.....
You both take care of yourselves,
Love,
Tina
Oh an Kansas ultram/ultracet states it should never be given to someone who has previously been dependant to opiates.

Tina, I started noticing a difference after about a month. The tiredness, I'm not sure about, because by 4:00, I'm tired just because of my fibromyalgia. It has definitely made a difference in me, but it's also coming off the opiates.
