Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the requirements as far as what is needed for certification for a Drug and alcohol counselor. I am currently working on my Bachelor's of Arts in Counseling degree. I wanted to know if I get this degree do I still need to be certified as a councelor?
Thank You!!
Congratulations on having the courage to reach for your goals!
Depending on which state you live in, CADC liscensure varies: HOWEVER, you have another option - why ask for on M&M when you can have the WHOLE BAG (just the the addict I am) - If you find a four year University that offers an LPC (Liscenced Professional Counselor) degree, you can, in the amount of time it would take you to qualify for you CADC.....get a MASTERS degree in the whole field of counseling - this would open the door to many different opportinities! Think about it - Jane Doe, M.S., L.P.C - (sounds good doesn't it!)
