Hi Everyone -
Just to clear things up I wanted to post real quick - Cant sit long.
I had a very bad fall, ended up in ER and, unfortunately, although I was looking forward to my 1st Christmas in 2 years CLEAN - doesnt look like thats going to be happening. They gave me demerol and ativan in the hospital, then percocet to be taken as needed at home - just great, right???
Let me just tell you, that I am so very upset - this is not only affecting ME, but my whole family because I couldnt finish Christmas shopping, had to change plans and got a lawyer and am going to sue the s*** out of Kash and Karry (Food Lion) because the floor was SOAKING WET with NO CAUTIION SIGN. They had to "strap" me down to a board (the EMTs) and take me in the ambulance along with my terrified daughter Amanda (13), since I could not drive and havent driven since (can barely walk).
Well guys, I dont want to put a "damper" on everyone elses Christmas,
I just wanted to wish ALL of you A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS & MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS FOR THE NEW YEAR COME TRUE. I LOVE ALL OF YOU.

i'm so saddened to hear of your injury. sounds like you sustained some pretty horrific injuries that are painful. marie - there's no reason why you can't retain your clean date. the key here is to be responsible where your recovery is concerned. i suffered an injury shortly after my first year of sobriety (fractured a bone in my ankle) and required pain meds for a few days until the acute pain process was over. i don't think anyone expects us to be a martyr when it comes to injuries and illnesses that happen out of the blue. it's a good idea for me to check my motivations if pain meds are needed because as an addict, my body doesn't know the difference when i take pain med for legit reasons or just to get high. i kept myself in check by being honest with my sponsor, my family, my counselors and myself.
we are the ones responsible for our recovery. and imho our clean dates are left best decided between that honesty we share with our sponsors and the God of our understanding.
i hope your healing is quick and stay in the light of recovery. merry christmas my friend - feel better soon.

Sammy and I posted a minute apart. I just wanted to second Sammy, insofar as I'm concerned, your clean state should remain. You certainly would not be using any opioids if this fall had not occurred; therefore, if you need to use some oxycodone for the pain from your resulting injuries, so be it. You're in pain. Plain and simple.

Marie- That totally sucks..I've slipped a number of times. Never used pain pills then though it would of helped. Go after those suckers and big time. No sign? It probably looked like the floor was polished. What a-holes.

My thoughts exactly LOL - I havent taken any painkillers today - only motrin, so I guess I really did have a CLEAN Christmas. Guys, believe me - the first couple of days I wouldve killed not to have taken any - really. It pissed me off so bad for that to happen on Christmas.
Everything turned out good today tho - I guess the Big Guy upstairs gave me a break and I woke up without really "severe" pain. That was the best gift of all. So, of course, I had to be outside at 6 am with Tony (9) and his new "hover disc" its really cool - looks like a flying saucer (its remote control) and lights up!!! I think that was his favorite out of the 500 LOL toys he got!!!
Kat - I can relate to the music - I know every word to every rap song ever written (not really) but my daughter got Usher, Nelly, Twista (now that guy is a fast rapper) and a few others - never thought youd see me singing rap (I'm usually strictly rock n roll), but with all the teenagers around- its impossible not to start hoppin to the beat (and I'm literally hoppin!!) Even my Tony is getting into it but some of those words in those songs - ya know OMG!!!
Anyway- I hope everyone had a great Christmas - OH - my second favorite gift was my new PRADA purse!!!! Now I'm like Jessica (Simpson) with her "Luis" - When going to my sisters for dinner today it was pouring down rain and I asked for a plastic bag (my daughter) - she said 'Mom- to go over your head? I said NO - to go over my new PRADA!!!! - I usually only splurge on that good stuff for my kids and buy my stuff at WalMart or even thrift stores - single parenting can be expensive!!!! So they decided to splurge on me (I guess they felt sorry for me:o)

Marie- My kids have one of those disks. They are really cool. My favorite toy is my remote helicopter. It only took me 3 months to learn how to fly it. I built it too. Now on Monday, call a lawyer.

I've already got that covered - I called a lawyer last Monday A.M. It didnt even cross my mind to sue, but a million people said "What are you CRAZY"?? So I figured, it was their fault and I AM suffering from it so............we'll see. My lawyer jumped right on it - started sending me to the chiropractor last Mon. went to my dr. Tues went for more xrays Wed (chiro EVERY day) and going for MRI Mon. Then I might have to go to another specialist (this town has a bunch of quacks) down in Miami. When it comes to my spine - I dont think this camel jockeys up here will be touching it!!!! I'm so sorry - no offense anyone, but it seems that since I went on disabliity and had to get on Medicaid the ONLY drs that except it are all from India or Pakistan ---- I dont know whats up with that but I've heard too many horror stories to have my back operated (if it had to come to that) by anyone but the BEST. I'm sure you dont blame me.
Anyhow - thanks for the advice Danny - youre such a doll. You deserve a GOOD woman !!! Dont sell yourself short. Its just not right. And believe me - if you want to stay together for the childrens sake - dont do it - the children would be happier to see their Dad happy and maybe she would be happier with someone else thats more similar to herself. (which may be hard to find lol)
