Quitting Smoking

Hi all. Having a real struggle to stop smoking. Physically, I'm ok, thank God, but financially, its ruining me. Nothing seems to help. What I'm seeking advice for is to find a way to get rid of the desire to smoke. Thats my biggest problem. I know that its my choice to smoke or not, but I need help to get the desire to quit. I have had a prescription for the patch, but haven't started it yet. The Nicorette gum only slowed me down. As soon as I was done chewing, I'd light up. If anyone has any advice on how to get rid of the desire please post one for me. Thank you
Some advise that I heard from an expert is to do it slowly rather than all at once. Say you're smoking a pack/day (20). Each month cut one out until you're down to 2. Once you reach 2 you can either quit all together or stay at that level since it's relatively harmless.

At a pack/day his will take 18 months to reach, but much better than trying and failing using other methods. Of course this does involve some discipline. Each morning count out the number you are supposed to smoke that day (ie 18 on your second month) and stick to it.

Good luck!
