my name is dave and I am addicted to roxycodones, I take about 10 - 15 30 milligrams a day, and want to get off of them . I had surgery in 2002 and 2003 on my shoulder and started with vicodan and when I finished with renab on my shoulder and with my doctor I went to pain management, and they introduced me to the roxys. Since then ,now 2 years I have been taking them. I now realize that after thousands of dollars and almost lossing my house that I am addicted. Doctor told me about suboxone,and on monday I will start on that. But I dont want to get addicted to that,so would someone please tell me somethings about this drug,because I dont want to get addicted to this either. Also, after I start on suboxone how long will it be before I can take a DOT piss test and pass, because I need this job I was offered and plus I need to be clean or I will lose everything, home , wife, family,etc. and what about methadone to get off the roxys,which of these detoxs is better. Please, somebody give me some straight answer. thanks for any help.

I am not expert but I will be happy to give you my thoughts on it. Start the sub,follow your doctor's orders and you'll be fine. You do realize that you will need to be in withdrawls for at least 24 hours before starting sub, right? If not, then it can throw you into a horrible withdrawl. The day you start it you should feel pretty normal. I have never taken it but I have read a lot on this board and know a couple people that take it. My ex-husband had a vicodin addiction and has been on sub around 7 weeks now. He started at 8 mgs and weaned down to a 1/2 a mg. He is ready to stop this week. He said he didn't notice any effects from dropping down his dose once a week. The first few days he had a little trouble sleeping but I am sure everyone is different.
The doctor wanted him on 8 mgs a month for months but he chose to get off sooner. There are a couple girls on this site that have got off sub in 10-16 weeks and had little or no side effects(withdrawl)issues etc! While on sub you won't beable to use your DOC because you won't feel the effect anyway.

Dave I started out roxys and oxy and then started going to a pain dr and he gave me methadone and I was on it for almost 7 years. I did lose my house and my car. But I still have my family. I have currently started sub. I have benn on it for about a month now. I feel so much better, no cravings, and I am so much more alert. My dr says you body will be addicted to it but it is much easier t taper down from. Methadone ruined my life no I ruined it by taking it but I do not recomend it for getting off opaites

no cowgirl actually he is on a class 2 narcotic and if i understood what he was saying with the D.O.T[department of transportation] he must carry a cdl for some type of driveing postion, believe me i have had many of piss test over the years for that exact same reason...............vinny.
Really? So if you have a job like that, what happends if you have to be on an opiate for pain? It's not illegal to take opiates prescribed by your dr, right? It's abusing them that makes it illegal.

They did drug test often and he was on Methadone,lomotil,Paxil etc for years... It was never a problem for him when he did drug tests. He never lost his CDL. rae and cowgirl,my company would give random urine test to all of us who posses a cdl,and my company guidelines are no ilegal drugs of course and as far a rx medication goes if it was a class 2 narcotic even if it is doctor perscribed it was not only against company policy but is against dot regulations also,so your probally wondering how i feel through the cracks or just didn't get caught?well i can't tell you that unless it was through a private email,i hope you can understand..........vinny.

What I want to know is how long after I start on sub. will I need to wait to take a urine test and have it come back negative of any drugs. I dont smoke weed,or coke or any thing else,I am just worried about the opiates,and how long they will be in my system.I am very serious about getting off all of my pain meds,so please dont think this is just being done to pass a urine test. And by the way how long for xanax and valium to be out of your system because I am stopping them at the same time to.
I'm not sure how long it takes for the benzo's to get out of your system, but remember that Suboxone IS an opiate. It will show up in a UI.
Don't worry, I knew you were serious. Best thing to do is talk to you dr and gt his take on all of this...

roxi let me ask you a question then i could probally guide you along,are you wanting to pass this test because you are in current posseion of a c.d.l.?and one more question did you already take you D.O.T medical exam for your driver's medical card because without that your c.d.l. is worthless,that has to be renewed every 2 yrs,that will consist several many test includeing,vision,hearing,blood sugar,blood pressure,hurnia check,strength,identifying colors,and the good ole drug test,now as far as the sub thing goes i honestly don't know what class narcotic that would fall under,personally i would think that would be exceptable because you don't get stoned from it,and here is another thing that is going to blow you away,if i was takeing vicadin while driveing a commercial vehicle that would be ok because that falls under a class 3 narcotic,tell me that an't the stupiest thing you have ever herd,it's ok to eat 10 vics and get behind the wheel of a big rig[lol] i know it seems hard to believe but it's true,anyhow if you got any questions feel free to ask i've been doing the same miserable job for the past 17yrs.........vinny.

Benzo's stay in the system the longest and can be detected by a UA drug screen up to 21 days. Sub is a long acting opiate which can be detected up to 5-7 days and it is a Class III narcotic. The benzo's are what you have to worry about most as far as how long they stay in the system.. And even though you have prescriptions for all these meds it says right on the bottles........do not drink or drive or operate heavy machinery while on this medication. So there in lies your problem, I guess. And anyone can get a DUI from being impaired while driving, even while using prescription drugs, or at least that is my impression.

I went through the sub program called Meditox in Palm Beach Florida. According to the dr who runs the program, Roxycodone and OxyContin are detecable in a urine test for 48-72 hours after your last dose...so wait the 72 hours. He also said the Subutex is NOT picked up in urine tests...you will test clean while taking Sub. The Dr.s name is Mark Agresti... he is psychiatrist and addiction is his field of expertise. I believe he is very knowledgable and I am confident passing along EXACTLY what he said regarding this issue. Hope it helps you and best of luck.

You also don't have to go to a clinic every day. It just seems more humane to me. I have seen & heard SO many nightmares about M-Done. I hope you are not added to that group!!!

thanks for the help. I will do the sub. But what about sleep, I heard that they make you hyper,and I am going to stop taking the xanac and valium to.Is there some kind of sleep aid that is non-narcotic I can use that will help me sleep? also, smeone said the valium and xanax stay in your system for 21 days? how does it stay inyour system that long? thats almost as long as pot,and that stays in your tissues of your body, please explain how it stays so long. I am just wondering.
