I have posted on here a few times about my 19 yo sister and her IV heroin abuse. Well it has led to her being in an almost fatal accident. She was in a coma for seven days and shock trauma for 2 weeks. Half of her skull had to be removed due to the brain swelling, feeding tubes, ventilators, and not knowing if she was going to make it. Now she is in a brain rehab center, but soon will be released to come home to my dads who is an alcoholic and so is his g/f. They are the ones who gave her teh keys to the car while she was 2 times the legal limit drunk and on heroin. Crazy thing is we have a family meeting at the center on thursday and I have told them of this problem, but my dad a sucessful business owner comes off with it and responsible, but really is an alcoholic, and binges heavily on the weekends, any suggestions. She is doing well ,but can not care for herself!

I am not a heroin addict but a recovering alcoholic....therefore i feel i don't really have any concrete suggestions to remedy your situation....but i was struck by the tragedy and severity of your sister's recent accident and how sad and helpless you must feel at present. I can only offer my sympathies and hope you will find comfort in the responses from the very caring and loving group that post on this message board.

I am so sorry. How old are you? how old is your sister? There is no one else who can take care of your sister? is your Mom around. That is not the place for your sister to be. Wow. I wish I could be there to help you. My heart goes out to you. Have you talked to anyone else both inside your family circle & out? you have alot on your shoulders and I wish I had a better answer for you, but I hope there is someone else in your family who can help both you and her out.
