Vinny,
A few months into recovery, I broke my left foot, and as I sat there and cried, I was crying more because I knew that I would have to take some kind of pain killer. I was more upset at that idea than the pain, and that was awful too. I did end up with the script, and I gave them to my hubby to dole out. I had the worst fight with myself over it, and I was lucky. I had a couple of my friends, and my sponsor tell me that you do not have to be a martyr, and that sometimes YOU HAVE to take something.
I was honest with myself about this injury, and found that if I kept it up, and iced it for 20 minutes every hour those first three days, with the Advil for pain, and swelling, I only had to take my pain killers for three days, and then flushed the rest. The swelling made my pain the worst.
I do hope that your heals quickly, and since we are all different, I hope you don't have to suffer much with yours either. After that first week, I did feel better, I wish that for you also. You are strong, but broken bones are the worst! I will pray for a speedy recovery for you!
Happy Holidays!
Lady M
