hey all
im a girl of 20. over 2 years since i started to take solpadeine probably nearing 3 since i started regularly taking painkillers. forgotten what its like to feel normal. miss the days when i could wake up without solpadiene being my first thought. im a student and spent my last 2 today on the drug instead of food! i dont like my life. no thats a lie, i do like my life i just wish i didn't have to take these. having to hide it from everyone. feeling like a im out of control. why the hell aren't there bigger warnings? i must of gone to my local chemist every 2 days for a month before she started questioning me. i haven't been back since. walked over 3 miles in the rain to go to a chemist who didn't know me. if i go anywhere new the first thing i do is find the nearest chemist. anyway i just needed to tell someone. its been a bad day.
I have to agree..why don't they say more about it...and your still so young to get of the stuff and feel better w/o the false high.........when my son informed me that he had a friend who offered him $5 for one of my methadone..( which he nevr got ahold of).I was like OMG....with going thru the w/d I have..finishing up my 7th day off methadone........I told him and his friends..." Be smart, and if you know of any of your friends who want to start this sh** for fun.....tell them what you have seen your mom go thru"...hope he heads my advice..and gl hun if there is anyway you can get off that stuff do so.......you have such a life ahead of you
What is solpadiene? Is it the equavalent of codiene here in the states? How much are you taking? Do you want off of it?

umm.. if you are takin that in the dosages as above (8mg codeine) and have been takin it for years i'd say you are ingesting between 200 - 400 mg of codeine per day am I right? If so then thats gonna be roughly 18 - 30 grams of acetominophen you are ingesting.. assuming you are not extracting the codeine.. do you every remotely understand the reprocussions on that on your liver?
the ones in canada have only codine and tylenol i dont know what that other ingredient is
Hi Jessica
Solpadeinehelp.org.uk
I too had a problem with OTC medicine - mine was nurofen plus (12.8 mg codeine).
Over the counter codeine is available in many forms in the UK and Canada. From solpadeine to nurofen plus to feminex to paramol etc etc. The codeine is highly addictive. The solpadeine site has loads of information and help. There is also a chap in the borders - David Grieve - who runs "Overcount" which advises re withdrawal from these products. If you contact him by email then he will draw up a personal plan for you for withdrawal - with phone help too. You may have heard him on the radio?? He is incredibly supportive and helpful. If you go to the Solpadeine site and look down the page - you will see "Overcount" and if you click on this it will take you to his site which has just changed address. There is a messageboard too which is very helpful. If you are in the UK (even if you arent!) then you will find this very very helpful if you want to be free of these drugs - and to have someone to speak to on the phone is an added bonus? There is mounting interest in these products at the moment and lots of TV coverage................ you would be amazed at the size of the problem ...................you are not alone!
Good luck
If I can help further - then just shout!

I know what you mean, I am addicted to Solpadol which is a stronger version and it's ruined my life. I'm trying but it's so hard to come away from them. I'm tapering down.
if u ever need a e-mail buddy let me know.

ok let me ask once again.. you people taking this solpadeine.. are you just popping the pills? If you are i am seriously worried about the damage being done to your livers from the paracetamol.. If you must pop them I can tell you a way to get rid of the paracetamol from them.. I'm not gonna feel very comfortable about it and I definetly won't post how to do it in here.. so If you wanna know then say so and I will give you my email addy.
I'm not saying i'm a pill popper but I take solpadol regularly to control pain caused by several illnesses.
am intrigued to know how you could seperate the two?

Boy, there's a wicked combo. I'd have enough trouble getting off the caffeine, much less the codeine. And you can buy this crap over the counter ?!!!??!
Wow. I can see why you want off that runaway train. What can we do to help.

hey again
Thank you all for your replys. My interent was disconnected for a week that is why i haven't been able to reply. Firstly i have every idea what damage is being done to my liver otherwise i wouldn't be worrying as much. Secondly i was also addicted to Solpadol first. My mother used to take them, i stole them all the time. She eventually got put onto another painkiller so i had to go onto Solpadiene instead. I do definately want to get off them but I dont think I'm in the right place to be able to do that just yet. All i want to be able to do at the moment is cut back so Im not overdosing everyday. Thank you again for your support.

Hi jess cutting back sure is a good start hun but in my experience cutting down leads to continuing to take pain pills and you always increase them, its far better to stop. You need to look at why you take them, if you look up my name you will see my diary take a look it might help you, (((hugs))) jaxxxxx
