With this link search down and look at 1997 & after , A.I. Leshner wrote some stuff on addiction and the brain. Wish I could find the full paper for free, but I just keep getting bit and pieces of his theories. It is a time line of sorts about addiction in general and what was going on.........

Hi.
I've learned not to anylize things so much anymore, and I also do my best to "Keep It Simple". Heres my take on addiction and the brain.
I was an active alcoholic and an addict, now I'm a recovering one. I could never have just one drink, pill, line, etc.. So now I don't have any. I don't care what caused it, or what someones defenition is. Whats important to me is knowing I am and doing what ever it takes not to become active again.
I think too many people spend too much time anylizing while life passes by, and too little time doing whats necessary and living in and for the moment.
So, for me, instead of reading why someone says I'm an addict and an
alcoholic,
I'll read the Big Book, Step Book, etc.. and just accept that I am one.
This in no way is meant to put down the post, I know it's meant to help, it's just my opinion. I figure no matter what it is that makes me an addict and alcohoic, isn't gonna change that fact that I am one.
Take care..............Bob
