I am the mother of a 29 year old son who is a vicodin and oxycoton user. He has just been court appointed to a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center for 3 months and then will go to a halfway house for an additional 3 months. My question to those who have been through this is.... do they really work for someone who wants to be helped and has finally admitted he or she has a substance problem. I am skeptical. I would love to hear from someone who has had a loved one go through treatment and if they saw results.
DEAR MOM ,
THER IS HOPE WHEN I WENT INTO TREATMENT I DIDN'T EVEN THINK I HAD A PROBLEM. AS A MATTER OF A FACT THE WHOLE FIRST WEEK I PLANNED MY ESCAPE ! THE WORK STILL HAS TO BE DONE THOUGH.
DON'T GIVE UP ON HIM YET REMEMBER TO PRAY FOR HIM ALOT HE IS TRULEY GOING TO NEED IT

Don't expect any easy answers. I keep reading about opiate recovery rates being 3% to 10%. I would guess recovery rates for any kind of court-ordered treatment are very low. I hope this isn't discouraging. Even if only 3% do stay clean, I plan to be in that group. If your son wants to be clean, it is possible. Don't lose hope and don't give up on him.
