Does anyone here actively subscribe to the Secular Organizations for Sobriety (SOS) philosophy? There are plenty of AA participants here--and congrats--but I was wondering if anyone else has taken a different tact in their sobriety?
Hi, I have never heard of it before?????????
SOS here
I was just curious. We read about successful AA journeys and there are many other things that work. Was just curious. Have a great, clean, peaceful day.

I checked into it...but didn't like it for whatever reason, but I was still drinking then.............
OMG VWGirl thanks for making my day - I just read that comment and it cracked me up.
Maybe you didn't like it because it recommended sobriety??? LOL
I remember my first reaction to AA - what do you mean stop drinking???

Didn't work for me but it's quite a large organization--I'm guessing someone's addicted to it... I've found my solution in the spirituality of AA--and mine's all I have to work, anyway...
hi skg
thank you so much for replying to me about my nightmare. Life with alochol was a nightmare so i guess its expected that it should follow us when we try and stop. You set my mind more at ease and I dont feel so crazy anymore. Thanks girl I have a long way to go but with people around like you i know I can do it. God bless you and peace be with you

I guess my next question is, "Why would you have to travel two hours to get to an AA meeting?"
About SOS heard of it and looked into it once. Apart from God I can do nothing! For in my weakness his strength is perfected. My flesh is weak but my spirit is willing. I must seek him daily and ask him to remove the bondage of self will.
Pirate I think there is about 33 million people in Canada compared to 300 million in the states. Canada is a beautiful country much wilderness. Do you live in a small town? Is this why you had to take a two hr bus ride to get to a meeting the other day? I'm not sure if there are AA meetings on line, check it out.
Our friend Cookster who posts here is from Canada. Maybe he will come by and say Hi soon. As I'm missing him.

Hi folks!
I admit I have been hibernating somewhat over the Christmas holidays. I haven't heard of the sos program. I did come across something called Rational Recovery but it didn't really apeal to me. I don't participate in AA but I don't disagree with most of their principles (at least the ones I know about).
Admitting that I was powerless over any alcohol that I had swallowed and that my life was heading downhill turned out to be the step that sparked the start of my recovery. This board has also been a huge part of my recovery...
one day at a time.... Cookster
